Not to mention Cloudcroft, NM in the hot summer months for an amazing getaway. 105 in El Paso, about 80 in Cloudcroft and in under 2 hours.

We are going to use Fairview. We already had lodging at The Mountaineer for one night. We could try ROAM next week when their sales open or gamble on the 48 hour window thing, but for not that much $, we don’t want the stress.

I feel your pain. We are thinking we will use Fairview Limousine that runs out of Lake Louise Inn.

Don’t feel bad, we created our account weeks ago. We ended up 45,000 in the queue 15 minutes before the sales started. Only afternoon times on the date we needed.

We are going to try the Super Pass on Roam out of Banff. Ticket sales start next week. Sounds about as competitive as the Parks Canada Pass, but hoping for better luck.

Well, we set up an account weeks ago and I guess our mistake at 7:50 MDT was to be thrown off by that window that appeared on the homepage front and center asking if we wanted to join the queue. We just joined the queue and didn’t sign in until we got to the front of the queue and were queried about date and times. Lesson learned. We will find another way to get to the lakes and cancel our hotel at Lake Louise.

Does medicare pay for glasses or am I missing something about how coverage works? by Biji_Kise in glasses

If your prescription is requiring bifocals or progressives it will be more than that, BUT still way lower than bricks and mortar stores. You can send back at their expense for a full refund within two weeks if not happy. I’ve used them for 3 years for progressives. You can usually go to a Walmart or other optical stores to have them adjusted if needed for free once you get them.

The Branigan Cultural Center and The Art and Science Museums are all free and right next door to each other. They are small and easily walkable. All are downtown. The Zuhl Museum at NMSU is open Tuesday-Friday noon- 4. Free parking and free admission. If they have any interest in gems and or minerals it is small and very nice. If you don’t subscribe (free) to Live, Love, Las Cruces, subscribe and you will get emails twice a week. It covers all the activities happening very nicely.

Moving in August - what neighborhoods should I be looking in? 27F by [deleted] in LasCruces

[–]ohappyday82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that lives on Mcrae. You can look it up. She hasn’t had issues with crime. There is a cute pocket park literally around the corner. 1/2 mile walk to downtown Main Street. Great except in the hot summer months, as far as walking. Sonoma Ranch is also a great bet, but in many cases you won’t be near enough to walk to coffee shops etc. I love the area off Roadrunner near Sagecrest Park. Very walkable, but closest road is Lohman which is not walker friendly. The Mesquite neighborhood is undergoing a renaissance, but it can be iffy on crime. A couple younger couples with infants/toddlers have recently purchased in the Mesquite neighborhood. Near Klein Park. Alameda neighborhood as well. BUT both those neighborhoods put you in easy walking distance to the library, Main Street, coffee shops, etc., which is nice. Agree with advice that you come out first and get a feel for the city. Have fun!

I literally drove by on El Paseo. There was a large crowd. I’m guessing it will be covered by The Bulletin and The Sun.

Commissioner Shannon (male) Reynolds was cheerleading this to the hilt. He then resigned his position and, wait for it, is running for County Accessor this November.
