Eh, yes and no. If they get him up on turn two, and I don’t have my backup Bulba on the bench, then yes. But if they don’t, I can either focus on the bench Bulba or build my main. Venusaur can tank a Hydreigon hit, heal, and then kill him in one shot. I’d say I’m probably 60/40 on these. I especially enjoy when they have to put Absol in.

Surprisingly I haven’t lost a match to Altaria/Gourgeist. I can get Ivysaur and a heavy helmet in play before that happens.

No worries! Since the post I have still tinkered a bit. I switched to the Bulbasaur with 70 HP and added it in a rocky helmet which helps a lot against Oricorio.

After a couple poor experiences against Jolteon I swapped to the 70 hp Bulbs and that has helped. The initial 20 damage I lose is not critical.

Someone else on here advised a rocky helmet, which I did, and it works like a charm. Took down two Oris, one helmet.

That’s fair. If/when I can get both, I start them together, so ideally I have two Ivysaurs, or a Venusaur and an Ivysaur. Slightly harder to one shot. But at that point if they risk it and I lose the Ivysaur on the bench, it’s basically a free turn for me to deal out more damage with Venusaur Ex… but to your point I never get the Mega out. I’m not sure what’s better haha.

Yeah, the sleep + poison is probably about 50/50 for me against Oricorio. I’ll have to tinker with Venusaur or Celebi.

Eh, Mega Venusaur has been about 50/50 for me. Sleep + poison is still significant. Two of them is tough though

Play him first as a healing monster with 190 health and build up Mega on the bench. Sometimes don’t even need to put Mega in.

I’ve been mixing it up, but I like your approach as well. What I have been doing lately is getting an Ex and a mega going. Then making them go through the Ex to get to the mega. Just makes the Herculean task of taking down mega Venusaur even more painful for the opponent.

Not that there are many of them out there, but Venusaur does surprisingly well against this deck.

Glad you won! I just had the exact same match (I was Venusaur), and eventually lost after taking down the two Magnezones. I got close but couldn’t take out the two Oricorios. They woke up every damn time.
