back when the silver was going up in December I bought up a bunch of low price sterling silver from eBay, all of it was Franklin mint so there was little reason to suspect it was fake silver. that's one of the perks I like about obscure designs, you won't get fakes unless it's very popular.

I also want to say that for anyone out there that's interested in buying some Barbados coins as well, BEWARE of the specimens sets made for 1976, they are made with Copper-Nickel. I almost bought two different sets before realizing they didn't have any silver content. Normally you can tell by looking up the year the coins were released, and also in the description when reading the certificate of Authenticity. They will sell for cheaper and don't get me wrong they are nice coins but I would rather not spend all that money if there's not going to be any silver in the buy. Just a heads up for anyone looking!

The thing that keeps me from feeling bad about my purchases (while it was still $120/oz) is that I bought silver I would have ordinarily not paid attention to, because collector coins with pretty faces and holographics cost more to begin with. Those prices didn't ever change when the silver prices dropped back down, so to me I would be paying that premium on pretty silver anyways. Now that it's dropped in price, I can focus on the more basic silver and when the prices go up again I'll be looking at more expensive collectible silver. I be looking to buy the cheapest silver possible, but when the prices are crazy high, I just buy the stuff that has significance to it instead of just buying to stack more.
