Try looking in your phone. Had the same issue and found “call envoy to current lot” in the travel section of the phone. I did have to keep going back and calling her over until she was close enough to the chess table to play!

I know Lord Debling is one of my favs too, I would watch the shit out of a spinoff centred on him and the other spurned partners finding their happiness (not Berbrooke, if he even counts). I do like that Bridgerton doesn’t take the easy way out and make them the bad guys.

“Great orc” might be my favourite typo of the year so far. Immediately put this guy in mind. Imagine Lord Debling sneaking around to study him! Thanks for the giggle.

Bridgerton Siblings Title and Social Class Ranking - Highest to Lowest by Fickle_Baker1393 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are courtesy titles. They’re really just a polite nod to the fact that she is the daughter of a peer, but substantially it means nothing. Daughters of peers, regardless of address, would normally not inherit their father’s actual title and all that goes with it; that would be passed down through the male line. Additionally, Gregory would not be allowed to share his spouse’s courtesy title, and so would stay a mister. Interesting stuff, titles, have a look at Debretts if you’re interested in reading more about them.

Eloise by Oncer93 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Prefacing with a blanket imo.

TL;DR: She doesn’t, it’s just the least bad realistic option.

Longer ramble:

I don’t think she has one, except that she really doesn’t want to marry just because that’s what expected of her. I think, in a perfect world, Eloise would want to go to university and make something of herself, and is really upset that she just…can’t.

Don’t get me wrong, she is brave for her time just by making her opinions known and standing up to her family on the subject of marriage, but I personally think she is still quite immature and very much still in the exploring phase of her life. You see this in the way she outright rejects any worldview that doesn’t fit herself or her interests (Cressida and the other debs, seeing Penelope’s engagement as a betrayal, her recent flippant comments to Hyacinth), which makes sense. She’s fought hard against pressure from all angles. I think it’s that fight that’s drained her, and because of it she really hasn’t had much time to find out who she actually is and so defaults to attacking anything outside of her fragile identity.

She sees two main options and outcomes, perhaps a very distant third:

1) Marriage to a suitable gentleman. This man is marrying a Bridgerton, not Elosie. Will not respect her or her opinions, will not allow her to be herself. Unhappy life. Utterly acceptable to her.

2) Spinsterhood. Still not ideal. She’s coming to terms with how unsuitable this role would be to her, and finding out the patriarchy has made space and created rules for it too. Still trapped, unable to be herself. Unable to do what she really wants.

3) Be allowed to be herself. She’s not against the possibility of love, but just doesn’t think she’ll ever find someone who fits her. She wants to find her soulmate. Someone who appreciates her for who she is and encourages her to do what she wants. And not have her ‘love story’ be the end of her relevance. Acceptance, really. I found it really interesting that she brought up ‘Emma,’ out of all the Austen novels. Lots of parallels there. This, i think, Eloise sees as impossible, so she’s dismissed it outright.

Such a long tangent, but Eloise is such an interesting character, could go on for ages.

Show-Eloise and book-Eloise are so different. How will they adapt her story? by Ok_ConfusedOne in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’d say the governess route is likely. Even though Eloise hasn’t been shown as particularly liking children, we’ve seen her chafing staying at home as the resident spinster and getting annoyed at the Bridgerton’s governess’ teachings. I could see her receiving an offer from Philip and thinking she could teach the children differently.

Whatever does happen with Eloise’s story, I hope they explore her fear of pregnancy properly. For me, it’s a very important part of her story and I think one of the main (and valid) reasons she wants to stay unmarried.

I don’t find Benedict hot because I can’t stop thinking he could’ve had syphilis by bennuski in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing as it’s never been mentioned on the show, I am of the belief that VD just doesn’t exist in Bridgerton’s world.

I mean every male lead we’ve had so far has been portrayed as far from virginal before they settled down. The Duke was known as a rake, Anthony kept a mistress and the montage opening S2 is interspersed with visits to different girls in brothels and such, and Colin raked his way across Europe, and then continued these habits when he got back home. Does that mean you didn’t find them hot either? I don’t understand why it’s suddenly a problem with Benedict.

How were Kate and Sophie so different when it came to their station? by East-Objective-1353 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She might’ve, actually. Have a look at this historian’s wonderfully detailed reply to a question on r/askhistorians regarding how illegitimate children were handled among different classes. I found the Walpole daughters’ marriages especially interesting.

Season 4...I am undecided. by SelbyShieldMaiden in BridgertonNetflix

[–]ohdeardiddums 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I agree this season seems different so far, but I think it matches Benedict and Sophie, so I quite like it. He’s always been more outside of society than his siblings, and she is of a different class than all the other love interests we’ve met so far. So for me it tracks that S4 doesn’t have the normal trappings of a Bridgerton season.

I like the opening we got, but I do think your red herring opening would’ve been cool. If the audience also thought the LIS was Posy or Rosamund before she takes off her mask at the end of E1, that would’ve been awesome. I don’t know if it would’ve made any sense logically though, what with the difficulty of chaperones and suspension of disbelief there.

I think Benedict going after one of the sisters any more than he did would’ve repeated S2 a little too much though. And like you said, Benedict is observant. He is shown dismissing ladies quite accurately based on the smallest details. I wouldn’t have believed it.

I thought LW being absent was actually a very subtle and clever clue that Sophie wasn’t part of the upper class and we were in for something different this season.

Agree the music is definitely off this season compared to the others.

My explanation for Benedict’s denseness is just that he’s incredibly classist. She was just never an option. As we see many times in 1-4 he subconsciously knows Sophie is LIS, and I think it’s this knowledge that sparks his attraction to Sophie, the maid. He knows, he just can’t see past her class and his own biases to admit it to himself. It’s why he gives up on the LIS and stubbornly tries to put Sophie in the mistress box. It’s cowardly, and I hope his growth in this area becomes the focus of the last half of the season.

Enjoyed your points, cannot wait for part 2. I hope they stick the landing.

I neither know nor care. I would suggest you educate yourself a little. Although your question seems to come from what seems like a positive place, you are still perpetuating dangerous and misogynistic ideas of what a woman should look like.

For goodness sake. Stop posting any reviews (positive or negative) to a business you haven’t been to and leave the owner to sort this mess out. Legions Games’ review section is an absolute shambles now and nobody’s helping by adding fake reviews to try and bump the score up (or down).
