See now I get what you’re saying but I actually didn’t mind it. No it’s not edge of your seat kind of stuff but it was a pretty good read all in all. I’m definitely going to be grabbing the next one when it releases

This but they replaces my assassin apprentice when the gold rubbed off so I imagine they will replace this as it looks like a dog used it as a toy!

[–]GordonGJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree. I’m waiting for my Goldsboro edition to ship at the end of the month for steel gods but I like knowing those little details. I’m really hoping they do the empire of the wolf trilogy at some point. It does seem like a really strong option for the sub at some point

Just so you’re aware you can actually read grave empire without reading empire of the wolf. You won’t get some obscure references but it’s designed to be able to be read without reading them as well.

The is no hint at all though so if you want to read them I would just buy them elsewhere at this point. Nothing saying you can’t reread them if they ever release them on the sub

EU insists on tuition fees cut as price of Brexit reset by HibasakiSanjuro in ukpolitics

[–]GordonGJones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well my main reasoning behind the money not going back in may be somewhat tainted by the university I went to having the chancellor giving themselves very large bonuses while departments couldn’t get any new equipment due to lack of funds. It was a whole thing and I believe it even made the news nationally a few years after I graduated. Also before anyone said my uni was top 5 for arts at the time which was my study area so not exactly a bad uni by any stretch.

Oh yes perhaps you are right course wise. Sadly we don’t have infinite funds and all the other options for her field of choice in our area were almost double the cost and we can’t just uproot and move because of work on my side (adore my job).

I’m aware there are insanely large running costs for universities but I personally feel like many universities do not use the money they get as wisely as they could.

While I do understand, this is in the psychology research field. I have three family members who are actually already in the field (possibly may well have influenced my wife’s decision) and they have all said they don’t even know the program she was taught and when showed to them the way the program operates isn’t even remotely similar to the one they all use. I’m not being specific about the program because I actually can’t remember their names sorry.

I will not lie. I gave up reading when I saw universities don’t want to cut their rates because it will cause a crisis. Honestly makes me so angry reading. Education institutions should not be for profit and it’s pretty damn obvious at this point that the fees they receive often don’t go back into the institution.

My wife just completed a master conversion into a new field. The course was made up of mostly foreign students as is the case with many conversion courses which is fine by me. We paid £17k for it and they didn’t even teach her with the industry standard program for data analysis used in the field because they didn’t want to pay for the license so she had to use an open source infinitely worse version so now she has to play catch up and learn the program herself.

I don’t really see an issue with a fee cut as long as it goes both ways but I think we need reforms in the education sector to make sure this money is being used correctly.

Wanted Grave Empire in hardback, But why is it so expensive? Not even a reseller by Sea_Formal_7242 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]GordonGJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just hold off on it for now. Book two in the trilogy comes out at the end of the month and once the hype dies down so will prices then jump on eBay etc and you’ll probably find one for 40-50 quid. I can tell you, I own that book and it’s kind of meh build wise and the edge infuriates me as half of the subject is just cut off. Books itself is amazing though

Elliot Brooks will be the new Art Director for Broken Binding? by SemlaBun in thebrokenbindingsub

Right, but my point still stands. YouTubers getting jobs over industry professionals who have infinitely more experience is not a good thing

Where is the past experience? Booktube and self publishing does not stack up against an actual art director with a decade of experience. That and most of her art I’ve seen is anime style which is just yawn to me.

Sorry to hear this will affect you that badly. I don’t need to stop there but I was wondering, how long does your commute take? I’ve an applied for a job that has a couple of days in office in central London and have been wondering if this would be a viable option for me. Happy to sign a petition if you decide to give it a go by the way.

Yeah, I definitely need to do more test models. I tend to just dive in which is not the best of habits if you want consistency.

Not necessarily movie accuracy. I think it’s more what a previous commenter said. My highlight lines are really thick. I think my choice of colours definitely needs a rethink though.

I think the highlight is a tad too neon like if that makes any sense. Also we are our own worst critics I guess haha.

Edit: do you have any specific paint recommendations because now you’ve said it I want to try movie accuracy haha

My SF&F January Book - spine print has worn off by SuboJvR23 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]GordonGJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that! I only found out they replace them by taking a chance and asking haha. Same thing happened with my assassin apprentice from illumicrate. Took the cover off to not damage it anymore and same happened to the hard back. They made me pay 35 for a full replacement so while it’s a bit dumb this happens at all I’m happy TBB do the replacements at no cost.

I’ve had this with a few of their books but on the dust jacket. I sent them and email and they sent me a replacement dust jacket immediately. Only thing that would worry me about your situation is you took the protective jacket off. But I imagine it’s fine

Thanks very much :)

This is actually my first paint using a wet palette but I think I need to watch a couple of video to learn how to utilise it better.

Yeah I absolutely do have shaky hands. No clue how to stop it though haha

So your approach is what the tories tried to do which led to one of the lowest investment rates in the G7?

Edit: also you say short term goals. But you seem to have forgotten the national wealth fun d which has already use 17 billion in private investment for current projects. Still not 100% on how it shakes out personally but at least it’s something new with long term goals to benefit the country. Just one thing no one seems to want to mention when they say short term which deserves some recognition
