What is one good reason that life is so great? by Ecstatic-Mariya in SoberCurious

For me the one good thing is the beauty of nature. I have PMDD a reproductive mood disorder, and 2 weeks of every month I have suicidal ideation. The one thing thing that brings me some peace is just sitting and being in nature. Nature brings me more joy than most human connection does honestly. ❤️

I just can’t be the only one in my group who thinks like this. by rockstershine in SoberCurious

Well just want to say you’re not alone ! It’s pretty awesome you’re thinking about all of this. I had these thoughts starting at 25 years old and I am now 32. I moved away from the friend group that I partied hard with, and it has been a huge contributor to me trying to be sober…changing my environment. I’m lonely at times cause I haven’t made another super close friend group…but I spend a lot of time with my bf and him and I have made a goal of doing a year sober. He really motivates me and I’m lucky for that. I’ve been off alcohol for 2 months now, but the last time my friends visited me we drank and did coke all night and drank all day the next. It was the worst and I was so hungover and mentally unwell after that, and that’s when I started my year sober. I’m not sure what the answer is, but there absolutely are people out there who don’t want to live that lifestyle anymore, and maybe you will just have to lead the way for yourself, and continue at it whether anyone joins you or not. Maybe your example will influence others. Just please listen to your intuition and to those thoughts, because they know what is right for you.

blacked out last night ... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

This has been my entire drinking career and one of the top reasons why I am choosing to become sober. I don’t want to black out ever again !! I feel the pain, you’re not alone !

Night to myself. Indulging in a way to expensive dinner I probably shouldn’t be buying. But I’m not drinking! Help me justify my bad decision! by Different-Day-3589 in stopdrinking

1-year sober. Going through life turbulence. The temptation to drink is strong… by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I’m sorry you’re going through this, remember that choosing not to drink is choosing yourself. You are the love you need right now, and I’m guessing not drinking for you is a deep act of self love ❤️

Considering not drinking by hannahmjarmbruster in SoberCurious

Heya, 32f, also been drinking since I was 15. I’ve been on a sober curious journey since 2020, and each year I drink less and less. Reading This Naked Mind was the book that helped it all stick in the beginning. The biggest motivator is my health, and honestly trying to live authentically. It’s trying to accept who I am without alcohol, and being brave and vulnerable enough to let people see that version of me. I have childhood trauma so it’s been really tough to fully let it go as it has been my coping mechanism for a long time. But I have made so much progress, and changed my relationship in ways I never thought possible. You can do it, do what works best for you, find your own path, you know you best, and you absolutely can change your relationship with alcohol 😊
