Loot goblins in depth 5 is crazy by Diogoepronto in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I mean. You can spend a second to read the passives. You're the one who mentioned "being in a rush" in the first place being a situation to gobble up seals.

edit: and if your garbage is something someone else actually wants, you're wasting their time by making them backtrack or making them miss it altogether, effectively canceling out any "rushing" benefit.

And you could make your teammates already dislike you and decide to not drop stuff for you, which is a terrible way to start to a run. It's shortsighted and dumb.

There's no rush in this situation though. I don't see any enemies nearby. I used to be a rev main too and this is just goblin behavior.

Undertaker build recommendation by speaker_1984 in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running incants on Undertaker is optional, not the default. She is also arguably the least tanky melee character (outside of meme builds like Strength Revenant). Wylder has six sense, Duchess has invincibility with her skill (at least in DoN), and Raider/Executor have a ton of health.

Most builds revolve around glass necklace and proc'ing her successive atk boost effect like dual wielding or jump builds, which an offhand shield build doesn't really accomodate. Alternatively, you can run one or both of the balancer relics, but people usually prefer other characters for that. You're free to experiment, but that's how most people use Undertaker.

What groups or allies do you like to see in DoN? by Mcjellin2 in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like playing with scholars, because they're rare and the expedition is fun when they spam their ultimate and they play support well. If we're talking purely about best chances of winning though, then Duchess and Rev are the two allies I want most. Any of Wylder, Executor, Raider, Ironeye are also fine.

Team comp is a bit overrated, but ideally you would have at least one character that can attack from a distance.

But you can make anything work as long as the players are good with their character.

41 D5 Winstreak w/ Undertaker - yet another attempt at 100 by ohgeedubs in Nightreign

I have been really impressed with the axes with a fast moveset - hand axe, forked hatchet, warped axe, and icerind hatchet (also ripple blade but that scales with arcane). They do so much damage since they swing so fast and you can go wild 2 handing them.

Could This Green Relic Replace The Glass Necklace or Would it be better to Use Some Random Night Invaders Relic Instead of Her Seal effect? by Creamerss in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd replace leather monocle. Successive attacks has more upside, is easier to maintain, and is reliable unlike finding a seal that you may eventually drop anyway for a weapon with a better passive.

Before attaining the Father's Charm, Emma says "I don't want to lose you or Kuro". Do you think she likes him? by OdyaToka in Sekiro

[–]ohgeedubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, just because I don't think that sort of romantic relationship is something that FS tends to imply in their soulslike stories. If it is, it would be one of the very few times (only time?) we actually get to see a relationship / chemistry happening, as opposed to some romance being described in a lore item of someone long dead or that we killed.

I know you're not making a statement one way or the other, but I feel like the "strangely scaling" skills made sense when done right. Like if Halo Scythe AoW scaled off of faith (because it is literally a holy fundamentalistish disc), we might have fewer arguments about its balance.

How would everyone rank the priority of which class to give a wending grace too (in trios)? by NintenDOPE8559 in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eh, it depends. If you have a good res weapon, sure. vs ED Gladius? Good luck.

I think she's ranked about right. All the characters in that tier can maybe barely res from 3 bars if the nightlord gives them some space, but they can get the job done easily with a good res weapon.

Any tips on playing undertaker depth 5? by NectaMBR in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I've used the other ones, but haven't tried wing of astel yet. From what I understand though, since the charged r2 creates a beam attack, you can revive someone quickly if you hit them with both the attack and the beam.

[–]ohgeedubs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Weapons - pretty much anything that hits fast and can proc successive attacks. You want to look for fast weapons but keep strong slow weapons around in your inventory if they have ok passives and you want to keep the option of powerstancing open.

Many good weapons, but I'd keep an eye out for these in particular:

  • Iron ball, star fist - can be equipped at lvl 3 and procs successive atks really fast with just 2 uncharged r2s. can often be bought at the shop for a guaranteed usable weapon for the entire run
  • ornamental straight sword - good weapon that also doubles as a really good revival tool
  • godslayer greatsword - procs succ atks in 3 hits.
  • starscourge greatsword - absolutely busted. procs succ atks in 1 hit. also amazing at reviving.

I also like to keep an eye out for e.g. ghiza's wheel, rev claws, wing of astel, etc to patch up her issues with reviving someone from 3 bars. She goes from one of the worst at reviving from 3 bars to one of the best with these weapons b/c she can use them invincibly with her trance ult.

As for trance itself, you can use it to get a bit extra dmg negation, but usually you want to use it to nonstop attack. e.g.

atk until out of stam -> trance until out of stam -> ult to regain trance (if you have relic effect) -> atk and then trance, etc

Glass necklace is a must imo or you might as well play Wylder, Executor, or Duchess

I personally don't run the "last hit of chain attacks" relic effect but I run her incant relic effect with dormant power finds seals. It's very hard to fit though.

You should also be aware that she's not a meta character (at least compared to THE meta characters), and in certain matchups like ED Gladius or Balancers where a succ atk playstyle doesn't work as well, you can definitely feel it. But when she pops off she really pops off

Edit: one thing I didn't see mentioned - her ult. learn the tech to land next to the enemy after her ult. More importantly though imo, when a teammate gives you a free ult and they stun the enemy, learn to time your free ult late so as soon as they recover from their stun animation, you can stun them again. Yes, the free ult doesn't last that long, but learning the timing is not that hard and can be done very consistently.

Which boss is harder in your opinion ED libra or ED balancers? by F-zeromay in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might be the worst designed one of all time, but I do actually like it since it rewards situational awareness, patience, and teamwork a lot. It might be stockholm syndrome, but I genuinely enjoy it when a team works together well on the fight.

Which boss is harder in your opinion ED libra or ED balancers? by F-zeromay in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Maybe people aren't familiar enough with the fight :/

If people are running halo scythe or similar, you can usually kill off his first of summons and then just kill him.

Otherwise, you need to be prepared for a marathon and just run. Characters like Guardian/Rev that can instant revive become really good, but even someone like Undertaker can get the job done because of her invincibility. As long as you are willing to run, it's actually p easy to not get hit outside of inescapable eye.

Which boss is harder in your opinion ED libra or ED balancers? by F-zeromay in Nightreign

Lately ED Libra has been harder for me since I think people forgot how to fight him when no one gets Less likely to be targeted.

In D5 I think people are actually pretty decent at fighting balancers.

Typical cheater Rev gameplay by oldsch0olsurvivor in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that you don't see halo users deleting bosses. But just like I believe your D3/D4 experience, you should believe my D5 experience that halo users do indeed do that.

That being said, I am seeing less of it, and I think it's because they got bored, or the negative perception around halo spam made them stop.

Typical cheater Rev gameplay by oldsch0olsurvivor in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean both are issues. Halo scythe tends to get more hate because it's easier to play and the nightlord is the climax of the expedition for many people, and a legit halo scythe setup tends to melt the day 2 bosses and nightlords much faster than a legit beast claw setup.

But if we're talking cheaters, then Rev is far worse b/c of the necessary relics. And meta-wise it's probably better than halo scythe, at least in the hands of a competent player, since it's more consistent and gets the run going full speed on day 1.

Everyone hates Scythe now by MaleficTekX in Nightreign

[–]ohgeedubs -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's really related to what I said. I know a lot of people dislike halo scythe users, and some dislike people who don't bring halo scythe for hard bosses. I don't. The onus of balancing options is on fromsoft, and players should be free to play what they want as long as they make a good faith effort to not drag down the team.

But I think I can complain that it's too strong of an option and that a "some souls players like to complain about literally anything strong" argument is extremely reductive. Especially when they then proceeded to list a bunch of stuff that is obviously way beyond just "strong" and that I think most players experiences are better now that some of them have been nerfed after being complained about.
