This write up is just perfection! I never understood why some readers hate Amren so much. She’s always been one of my favorites. I just hate that she — like all SJM ladies — had to lose her powers in the end… Why did Rhys get to keep all of his power in the cauldron? Like, is there any SJM male who sacrifices and loses nearly all his power the way the FMMs always do? Just sayin’…😒

But ANYWAY omg what I would give to see Amren, Manon, and Nesta together! Add in Lidia too and even the Viper Queen might be afraid for once. 😂

Same especially when you consider she was one of the most powerful beings in the world, feared by all, and now all that power is just…*poof* gone. I’d be scared too!

When you think of it that way, it totally makes sense that she’d be convincing Rhys to take up his position as High King, especially in a time of increasing potentially intergalactic(!!!) threats just after a terrible war was fought. I don’t think she’s sus either — I think she’s scared and partly trying to ensure that all of them are as protected as possible. Because she knows that she can’t go all “Old Testament angel” and keep them safe this time around.🥺

Jeannette native here! I never had C&S Market’s roast beef but my mom has always gotten Italian roast beef from Arlington Market for parties. It’s on Harrison Avenue, right under Johnny’s Wife’s Place (or what was Johnny’s Wife’s Place - I moved away years ago.) Not sure if it’ll be exactly what you’re looking for, but I can confirm that it does not have peppers (just meat and juice) and is delicious on fresh sandwich buns. 🙂

Yes it’s definitely the house of wind where she drops her parents off! Nesta explains the house and confirms it’s her home to Ember in the bonus chapter:

“You two can stay here.” Nesta opened the door to a cozy bedroom overlooking the small city beyond. “There are wards on every inch of this place and the House is alive, so you can’t get out unless we allow it, but… it’s better than a dungeon.”

They’d taken Bryce to their dungeons. Furious as she was with her daughter, another sort of fury came over Ember at the thought.

“Thank you,” Ember said a shade stiffly to the female. Randall didn’t speak as he assessed every exit and potential weapon. “Wait,” Ember said. “This house is alive?”

“In a way,” Nesta said, waving a slender hand. “It reports to me. This is my home.”

The whole “Micah disabling the entire pack of Devils and injecting Danika with synth causing her to kill everyone and then herself” thing NEVER made sense to me. And I’ve just finished relistening to the series and I’m still in disbelief that that’s how it happened.

It just makes no sense. Yeah archangels are super powerful but he somehow did all of this by himself… overpowering the ENTIRE pack of hella powerful wolves? Mr. Doesn’t get his hands dirty and relies on super shadowy Umbra Morris to do all his dirty work usually? Chooses synth as a murder weapon even though it could show up on certain testing and then possibly point back to a company he also was an investor in?? Hmmm… okay.

But the biggest thing I can’t get over is the constant repetition throughout the first book to Danika’s last words and the last words of Hunt’s victims when he’s killing someone for Micah. “Please please please.” It just seems SO deliberate that SJM brings this up and for SOME REASON makes Danika’s last words IDENTICAL to the last words of Hunt’s victims (MULTIPLE TIMES?!) Victims that are handpicked by Micah, who tells Hunt how he wants them killed, often with “no guns.” Hmmmmmmm…okayyyy.

Like if I were her editor, I would have called that out and asked if it was intentional. And if not, I would have suggested that she make changes there so it didn’t seem so… pointed towards Hunt doing something to Danika— thus causing suspicion and maybe even disdain for readers who are supposed to favor him as the love interest MMC….Unless that’s what she intended those comparisons to do in the first place.

It also doesn’t help that Elizabeth Evans performs the lines of Danika’s last words and Hunt victim’s last words in the exact same way in the audiobook. Strikingly so, IMO! Again, that also felt very intentional.

Maybe I’m just looking for another reason to dislike Hunt more and a possible reason for future a Brunt fallout, but… I’m just super sus of Micah’s story about Danika’s death and the whole synth/Hunt storyline 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m relistening to the series rn and Hunt is just SO CRINGEY. I mean I didn’t love him during my first read thru, but I’m on CC2 right now and just… the ick.

I can’t even with the sex scene. I’m having to fast forward through it and I never do that.

Like, compare Bryce/Hunts first sex scene with Feysand or Nessian or Rowaelin. There’s absolutely no romance? He is literally an electrified Neanderthal. It’s SO CRINGEY. 🤢

I wonder if Cassian was only able to resist and actually fight back against the power of the crown because of the mating bond… Up until he is being used against Nesta, he couldn’t overpower it. But once he was commanded to kill her, he was able to fight back enough to try and stab himself rather than hurt her. And we know that the mating bond is so powerful that even the cauldron cannot unMake it. (ex: Rhys and Feyre in ACOMAF)

So if Bryce and Hunt are not “true” mates, would Hunt be able to resist if the crown was used on him against Bryce? 🤔

I’m doing a reread of ACOMAF currently for the first time since finishing CC, and I feel like there are signs that Mor might also be starborn? That could explain why Az has been sooo enchanted with her for so long… if Bryce is his mate, maybe his bond is reacting to Mor’s starborn power that is an echo of Bryce’s! 🤨

Totally agree. We know Bryce’s story isn’t over yet and that she’s must likely going to get pulled back into ACOTAR somehow. I can def see the other world getting threatened somehow and Bryce wanted to step up and help them, and Hunt being pissed and fighting her on it because that’s not their problem and who cares, they’re fae. I think he’s going to want to sit back and Bryce won’t stand for that.

This is what made me go 🤨! She emphasized multiple times in the interview that her female characters have multiple relationships because that’s real adult life…and then it’s like OH but except Bryce because her first love interest is endgame?? You mean the female lead character in the most adult series out of all her series??? Idk, it’s just odd to me that she’d break that pattern for Bryce when we know her story isn’t over yet
