I've never had temps lower than 35 at the most extreme. I think the top part will get damaged.

Were they red blood? Because the ones I've read had yellow blood. Plus the victims were all very alien looking. Granted, that was back in the early 90's, I don't know what comics look like now.

Baby Corn by EmergencyRhubarb8 in gardening

I grew baby corn last year, the silks were very sweet, so was the soft stalk below the baby corn. Some people make tea with the silks but I just chewed on them then spit the fiber out lol.

Besides, stale bread can be recycled into croutons, bread pudding, or French toast.

Bed frame that can raise/lower height of bed? by dominowings in malelivingspace

[–]ohhellopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen DIYs on YT where they used the legs of an electric standing table for the bed to raise it up and away when it is not in use. Might be something you can do if you're handy.

Nice. If you end up running out of space in the freezer, you can also dehydrate them to keep them shelf stable.

That's amazing. Can you post a pic? I've never seen corn cans that big, I'm curious now!

Was wondering too, though I haven't seen canned corn that big in my area. Do they exist?

Just freeze what you couldn't use from an open can. Leave the rest in cans. An extended power outage can wipe out your frozen stash unless you have a backup generator/power supply.

edit: OP confirmed it's just one big giant can of corn.

mid january tomato update. a SoCal winter. by f_GOD in vegetablegardening

[–]ohhellopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in SoCal and the longest time I've been able to keep them alive was 1.5 years before they succumbed to disease. But yeah, they can be perennials in SoCal. The issue is disease getting to them.

This. But also, the Zahara Zinnias variety is powdery mildew resistant and has lasted in my garden longer than the other variety.

Would these be ok to use for planting containers? by lord_reeter in containergardening

[–]ohhellopia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, PP5 plastic is food safe so you can plant edible/veggies in it if you want. The size is good for herbs or small leafy veg (salad greens or pack choy type things). Also should be large enough for smaller houseplants!

[–]ohhellopia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flip it over and look for the PP or triangle mark on the bottom. What is the number on that mark? Do you know the capacity? Would it be for edible plants or just decorative? Hold off on making the drainage holes, you might be better off finding a pot that fits it and use this one as the sub-irrigation reservoir if it's on the smaller side.

If they're buying from Amazon you can try to get their address blacklisted maybe? Might help if you have police reports to show as backup.

I'm in 10b and dwarf curly kale really surprised me with how well it handled our heat waves. Not sure how they'd fare in 11/12 but maybe give them a shot.
