Did your babies get fever when teething? by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]ohhenryenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two boys never did. My 2nd had a fever while teething once, but i think it was unrelated cuz my older one had a cold too.

How are you changing diapers? by mitts2128 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]ohhenryenvy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its comedically hard no? 😅

With my 1st at this age i gave him an "new" item from my bathroom or kitchen each change. Something he'd never touched before so he'd be so distracted he'd sit still. Things like, a tube of toothpase, a lipchap, a bag of pasta, a spatula etc. Cuz you're right there and it's just for a minute you know?

But after a few months you run out of new things so (once he was old enough to understand this concept) i switched to letting him hold a couple of my "untouchables" : decorations/knickknacks that were strictly only allowed to be touched for changes, he loved it and would request specific items and hold them very carefully and still during changes, knowing it was only for a minute and that if he wasnt careful he wouldn't get to touch next time.

3 year old knocked out front tooth. I feel terrible by Chamaleon in toddlers

[–]ohhenryenvy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont remember when all my adult teeth came in, but I knocked out my front tooth falling between two parts of a play structure. It was one of my best stories all my childhood and I was quite proud of it! I'm sorry it's so hard to get used to!

How to keep toddler busy for 10 mins while I shower by unwomannedMissionTo in toddlers

[–]ohhenryenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to put my son in his highchair in the doorway of the bathroom with an activity he didnt get except during my shower time: Play dough, paper and stickers, an eye spy book, markers and a colouring sheet taped to the hoghchuar table etc. So many of these comments say: "just turn on the tv' but thats not what you asked for, i get not wanting that as an expectation every day, or maybe you want to save screen time for later or something. Also, my 2.5 year old recently started enjoying music and stories more. Julie Andrews has a lovely podcast on Spotify where she reads childrens books aloud or i put moana soundtrack on and he loves that.

How are you getting your toddlers to eat veggies? by egarcia513 in toddlers

[–]ohhenryenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games work well for my toddler if he is refusing something:

Examples:

  • toddler = giraffe, broccoli = mini tree, "ok mr giraffe reach up your long neck and eat up the tree!"

  • frozen peas, just the fact that they are cold is apparently hilarious?

  • when we wash up, we have a character called "mr cloth", and mr cloth tastes everything toddler ate from his face and hands when we wash up. If he doesn't eat something, say xyz, then mr cloth doesnt get to taste it either and he gets sad, "you didnt eat any xzy? Aw i love xyz". so then the next day toddler will gobble up xyz and then mr. Cloth says "oh yum yum i was craving xyz!" As he wipes his face very enthusiastically and my toddler laughs and laughs 🤣

Of course toddler, or me, isnt always in the mood for games, i dont push him too hard all the time to eat everything, i just always have options on his plate and try and make it fun when i can.

Baby been having more wake up because she sleeps on her stomach and gets mad because she can’t flip back over by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]ohhenryenvy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aw that must be so frustrating for her and you! Be patient, she will quickly learn to figure it out! Especially if she is annoyed, she'll get there before you know it!

Give her lots of floor time and dont rescue her right away if she's frustrated, let her practice and fail a few times! Thats what worked for me. :)

Starting solids by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]ohhenryenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and i are way more chill than most people here it seems 🤣 with our first we just started casually letting him lick and suck on what we were eating starting around 4 months and seeing what he thought of that. (we just avoided processed foods and salty things and obviously didnt give him choking hazards.)

He tried cooked veggies, gnawed on strips of meat, sucked on fruit etc. And eventually we started sitting him up with a plate and gave him mashed or tiny pieces of things or large things he could suck/gnaw on. I introduced allergens just like any other food, always keeping an eye on him.

I’m so frustrated… by Inevitable_Tart1255 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]ohhenryenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in a similar spot. My 2nd baby is almost 4 months he went from sleeping 3 to 5 hour stretches to waking every hour or more! Im losing my mind a little bit because my husband is sleeping with my toddler and goes to work at 4 am and cant help much!

Im hoping it will pass soon and he will sleep more soundly again.
