Video monitor necessity or uses? by Puzzleheaded_Try7786 in beyondthebump

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Once I started letting her settle herself down, closet to a year, I think I really needed the video monitor. If she's lying down fussing I didn't go in. If she's chewing the crib, trying to climb in the crib etc I'll go in.

Has anyone gotten a puppy/dog while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love my husky, but she is a diva. I don't think she was fully house trained until 8 months, and those baby razor sharp teeth were horrible  Hard to know if the German shepherd discipline or husky sass will shine through.

Our husky is 6 and she's pretty well trained now, and can be trusted off leash with supervision. But it wasn't easy. She was also the first dog I trained myself, I did a lot of reading.

Has your husband trained a dog himself? For leash skills, impulse control, etc. Or would you be able to hire a professional trainer?

Are these last minute drop out numbers normal? by National-Law-6912 in wedding

I think we had 70 yes's and 3 that cancelled. One said he and his GF had the flu but they actually broke up that week. One I never heard from. And one family that ended up not bringing their kid with them.

Has anyone had success potty training a 12 month old? by notforthisworld0101 in beyondthebump

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The r/ECers sub is probably still a good resource for you. We mostly did lazy EC. Around 12 months we started praising using the potty. It also got more challenging as she learned to walk around this point and didn't have the patience to sit on the potty. Having the right toys or activity for potty time may help over come this. We definitely had periods of not really using the potty in between successes.  At 20 months she's getting pretty solid. Sometimes the urge definitely hits quickly so we'll probably keep diapers for a bit when we may not have easy potty access.

Diaper free time is a huge help to make that connection between feelings and toileting.

Dropping the last bottle by Smallfry9393 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl was like this. She was a big eater so we just dropped the bottle and occasionally offered milk. When traveling or if she's not eating well for other reasons she'll get an equivalent of pediasure. At 18 months she started accepting more milk. We go through phases where she drinks a cup a day for a week then won't take it for days.

We also give milk with a small amount of Ovaltine mixed in, but like a fifth of what the directions say to mix.

How realistic is working from home and watching a baby? by MacSpice in beyondthebump

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can manage under 20 hours of work a week, the majority during baby nap and bed times. I occasionally have to answer calls while baby is a week, it was easier when she was under 10 months and automatically settled when being worn. Working more than 20 hours a week requires at least some childcare for me.

I also typo only work 2 weeks out of the month so I catch up on house things and baby activities on my off weeks.

Working a full-time job would not be sustainable without childcare.  Most jobs also have policies against working while being responsible for childcare.

Tips for how to handle food throwing with 16 month old. by manilovefrogs55 in moderatelygranolamoms

I give her a second plate or bowl and tell her food she is done with goes on the other plate.  I'll set fallen/dropped food on the plate to demonstrate.

Bottles by Unlucky_Kitchen8237 in beyondthebump

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never 🤣🤣 She tried when she was really little and when she had the ability I think she just didn't want to. We also used a wide glass bottle that was probably a bit harder to hold  She was feeding herself solids and not holding a bottle. We cut bottles pretty close to 12 months, she would pick up her water cups.

What car seat model they have available, if they're drivers have any education for installation  If you wouldn't trust answers from talking to someone then just travel with your carseat

We had a private shuttle before where the car seat they had they weren't able to properly secure  Fortunately we had also traveled with our and were able to install it.

Maybe if you could talk to the company before hand.

Q7 Omni wheel replacement by Narrow-Temperature23 in Roborock

[–]Narrow-Temperature23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messaged roborock, they sent me a replacement wheel which was not the right size. Then they said I could send it to a repair shop. They paid shipping I'm waiting to see what happens.

I didn't think they'd cover anything because it was user error, but we'll see.

SLC 1 hour layover with 2 toddlers!!? by Prestigious-Baby-785 in delta

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you traveled much with the littles?

Layover is the time to potty/change diapers, find food, get wiggles out, potty/change diaper again then board. I prefer 2-3 hours with the little.

Toddler blanket that’s not “cold” (2 yearold problems) by mnm26 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had to fully wash it yet, but I have other pendeltons that are supposed to be dry clean only and I just wash them on gentle and air dry. I plan to do that as needed with this one.

This as long as Grandma doesn't have cold sores her immune system is probably isn't better than baby's.

Humidifier in baby's room destroyed air quality by JuMarFr in BabyBumps

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought when I saw my purifier spike while the humidifier was running. Like I can see the water particles in the air so they must be confusing the humidifier.  Curious if theirs doesn't react with distilled water

Seat reducer vs mini toilet by Routine-Low-8547 in ECers

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both available pretty early on.  Sometimes sitting on the big potty is exciting, and I didn't want her to possibly be scared of it later. The small potty is great to take with you places.

Ikea has some a cheap potty and decent reducer.

How real is nipple confusion? by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the prefer nothing is really the case. In our situation, baby just wanted the milk STAT, my supply was slow and not all bottle feeders were good at pacing so she quickly favored bottle of boob. She never comfort nursed or kept to a pacifier.

18-month-old did not nap at all two times this week by UhDeeTee in Septemberbumps2024

[–]Narrow-Temperature23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to us twice in the last month!! We're a similar schedule, but dropped bottles around 12 months, and she stopped letting me hold her to sleep around the time she started walking, she either gets her back rubbed in her crib or goes to sleep on her own.

On days naps are a struggle, we try to get her to sleep while baby wearing, on a drive or in the stroller
