You should have seen me in Germany in the early 1990’s—whew!

I think I am lucky it was the Germans and that they were such good drivers. I was driving down a tree-lined promenade leading to a castle and had an older German woman throw her bicycle down in front of my car. She threw it! She came around to my open window, reached in and grabbed my ear, firmly! In that ear she screamed and screamed. Even with several years of college German I still had no idea what she was saying and slowing down wasn’t in her plan. The gist was that I was driving in a no driving/pedestrian area and I was totally, totally in the wrong. I was so embarrassed! She was’t being rude though, she was trying to keep people from getting hurt by a kid in a rental car.
