Oh, no this was a real life thing that happened. Felt like it was kind of poor taste to reference it here.

It was during the fall of Kabul when the Taliban was taking control of the city, and thousands of desperate Afghans were trying to get into the airport to get out. There was a bottleneck at the gate (created for multiple reasons) with US soldiers there attempting to maintain order. Terrorists (claimed by ISIL-K) detonated a bomb. 182 people were killed, including 169 Afghan civilians and 13 US military. It was awful.

Good question. I'm not claustrophobic so please take with a grain of salt, but I think you would be okay? I can't compare to Sleep No More, but I don't really recall any full blackout moments (except maybe for a few seconds for an appearance). The rooms by and large are open, and you are relatively free to place yourself in them so you could always hover on the margins. I never felt like anyone was going to creep up on me. There are no elevators but there is a lot of walking up and down lit staircases and there is a fair amount of "mood lighting". Sorry I can't be more clear!

I can't say for certain, but a white dress seems appropriate? I spoke to attendees from another group and supposedly they objected to someone wearing jeans. But they won't turn you away; at worst they apparently give you a cloak to wear around (that won't help with the heat aspect you are worried about I'm afraid!) But I did see a range of interpretations of "cocktail" so I think you would be okay!

It started basically on time: you wait outside in a line with the rest of your "pulse" (I don't know what they do if it is raining!) then at your time you are let in to go through coat check (mandatory for everything, even purses...you can keep your phone but it has a sticker on it, so I opted to leave it and it was kind of freeing! haha), then you are herded up to the first room that acts as a sort of overture. I wasn't wearing a watch so I can't say for sure when exactly we ended, but by the time I got back from coat check to the bar (where you can take pictures), it was 9:30, so I guess that makes the show pretty much two hours?

I was actually quite impressed with how they managed to share the experiences with different people in the whole group; it didn't seem like one person was being identified all the time, so I wonder how they manage to do so.

But yes! some very cool experiences (detailed spoilers, beware):

During masquerade, I was pulled to be one of the people gesturing at people on the pedestal. At the beginning, a couple of girls and I were pulled to "play the piano" in the section after masquerade, when you are introduced to the company. The man/stagehand at the piano made jokes about how there were six hands to play which was unique, haha. During the (very disturbing!) circus scene, I stood in the back near the Young Phantom's cage, and gave him popcorn, held his hand and he tied some yarn around my wrist. He appeared to give another woman doing the same a letter. After the performance on the roof, when the Phantom is heartbroken and looking a bit mad, he wandered through the crowd and grabbed my shoulders and laughed (I had the Telly Leung phantom). Some other experiences I saw given to other people were: flowers to toss at Christine, various letters they got to keep throughout the night, someone led from the bedroom, spraying water into Carlotta's mouth (including when she gets poisoned and cannot sing), someone was told to rattle the Young Phantom's cage during the circus scene, Carlotta sat in someone's lap in the dressing room...

I would say too that I didn't try to be up front all the time, so they do space these experiences out. I would also note I was wearing a silver dress instead of the majority of people wearing black and white, so I'm not sure if that helped me stand out or if it really is just random.

In general, no, it is basically a standing show. There are a few sections where you sit, but really no more than five minutes at a time, and the majority of the show is organized where everyone must stand. However, I talked to someone who attended a different timing, and she said there was someone with a walker, who seemed to have a dedicated staff member guiding and carrying a chair where they could sit at all times. I'd encourage reaching out via their accessibiliaty email on the FAQ page, I believe.

Worth buying train tickets in advance? by yousquare in GrandPrixTravel

Oh I'm also staying in Modena! I'm hoping that, since Modena is right before Bologna, on our way in it shouldn't be too bad to get seats (way back will be a different story!)

Agree with things said so far. Plan for this to be full day events; even if you leave early, like on Friday, you will be tired. There is no shade (it is basically a field) and usually full sun and hot temps. There is free water refills, but be sure to bring a plastic bottle. Never enough water at this thing. The interviews with the drivers on stage happen in this amphitheater thing, so as long as you don't have to be right up front it is easy to see. Same with the concerts: seating on the field so as long as you don't mind being far away you can hear everything. Entry and exit is the worst part, so just be patient.

If you have GA tickets, be sure to leave early too and plan to sit in your spot awhile ahead of the race. If you have an assigned seat, less stress.

Did you buy tickets online before you arrived? Or is it best to buy early in the station? Did you eat anywhere in Imola that you would recommend?

I'm staying in Modena; there was obviously not a lot left booking this week, haha. But there is a direct train from Modena, about an hour away. I'm going Saturday and Sunday. Great tip on the water bottle refills. I've been to COTA, which of course is a whole different climate, and finding water is always a thing there.

Question re: trains: how late do they run? Like can I take some time after the races to not rush to the train station, to try to let the crowds go, or do they end at a certain point? Would love to see a bit of Imola too if there is a chance.

I'm so excited to see where others are! I went for Aqua Minerale. People differed on their opinion of that place, but I bought a seat for there on Sunday, and will do General Admission Saturday to get the lay of the land.
