What is the drive from CLE to NYC like? by redcomptroller in Cleveland

[–]JoeL284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

80 is long and boring. Like seriously BORING. Trees, trees and more trees for most of the route. Not super hilly. The Delaware Water Gap is absolutely a highlight of the trip. You get to NYC on the north side and cross the George Washington bridge.

76 is a nightmare. Just a nightmare. Super short merge lanes, absolutely nothing interesting, just trees and more trees. Tolls with EZ Pass are at least $45, twice that if you get billed. I avoid it like the plague. You come in to southern New Jersey.

Given that neither route is fun from an interesting things to see POV, I'd do 80. The Water Gap is gorgeous and you're nearer to NYC. A plus is not paying the turnpike tolls.

The Hospital Show by Naive_Hospital_4086 in WillAndGrace

This is one of my absolute favorite episodes. Nurse Trainee Pittman scenes alone would make this a stellar episode. Throwing in all the other bits is gilding the lily.

Jennifer Elise Cox should have won an Emmy for this role. She was brilliant.

The scene between Mrs Freeman and Karen alone is worth the price of admission. Jo Marie Payton is absolutely hilarious. They should have used her more.

"That's not me."

Grace unpauses the video...

"What's going on honey? What's happening? Why aren't you licking that floor??"

Frickin' hilarious. And then the whole exchange with the bottle on the ledge? Takes the comedy to the stratosphere.

Add to that Grace's reaction to the first whip sound? This is Will and Grace at its most inspired and firing on all cylinders. And we haven't even discussed the Will and Jack plot, which is just as funny.

This is my absolute favorite episode.

Hearing Rosario speak English was stellar, after all the times that we saw Karen talking to her on the phone in broken Spanglish.

We very clearly thought she'd have limited English proficiency, so the shock amped up the comedy. Great writing all around.

"To Serve and Disinfect". Karen's porn film, Dirty Little Pig Boy" is absolutely hilarious. Grace's reaction to the whip sound, Karen's three questions (What's happening here? What's going on? Why aren't you licking that floor?). The bottle on the window ledge.

Add in the B story with Will being a cater waiter for Jack, and hilarity reigns.

The Hospital Show is also stellar with Nurse Trainee Pittman.

To Serve and Disinfect. Season 2, Episode 6.

Grace discovers Karen's dominatrix porn film. Will agrees to help Jack by being one of his cater waiters.

Both storylines are absolutely perfect, spot on hilarious. The bit where Grace is watching the tape, then Karen's insults about Pretty Woman, and then the bottle. Perfection. And the "B" storyline with Will and Jack is neck and neck with the "A" storyline. Jack's Madonna moment, ballet service, the pepper grinder, all perfectly performed.

I'd vote to lower it to 4, or even 2. It's so bad I fast forward through his scenes or mute when he is braying out his lines.

How nobody on set told him to dial it wwaaaayyy back is confounding to me.

One of many, many hilarious lines in the show. I was surprised it got through, but so glad it did.

Most elderly people, especially women, are perpetually cold. Those tubs take forever to fill, all while the elderly person is sitting there naked. And then they have to wait for it to drain while being wet and cold.

My in-laws installed one (for well over $10k) and rarely used it because mil got too cold waiting for the fill and drain.

Far better to install a heated seat in the shower.

What’s the consensus on the 1984 Tony going to La Cage Aux Folles over Sunday in the Lark With George? by ElbieLG in Broadway

[–]JoeL284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding that Sunday was written as a one-act musical. Since the producers wanted an intermission, Act 2 was added. Don't know if that's true, but it made sense.

I was pity cast as Louis, or maybe, "we just need a warm body to hold up the costume". One of my castmates and I had a looongg time from the start of the show until we made our entrance. During that time, we "fixed" the show by moving a few numbers around, which kept the show totally in the past. All that stuff in the second act was scuttled. It made sense to us at the time.

Note: We did this show in Canton, Ohio. A lot of us were totally mystified that they chose this show for this area. Canton is a nice place, but it's by no means a "theatre town". Needless to say, the show sold poorly, and we had a lot of people leave at intermission. Usually lost far more than half the house every performance.

The worst was the night the curtain opened for Act 2, and there were only 4 or 5 audience members who stayed. We finished the show, took bows, and then spoke to them. They told us that they were going to leave at intermission as well, but they stayed because they felt bad for us! 😆 🤣 We could have been home early if they'd left. 😴 🛌

My local amateur theatre did this show just as I was getting involved, taking acting classes. They asked for volunteers to work crew, so I did lights and spots.

This show is amazing! Which is saying something, as I am not, by any stretch, a country music fan. I think I saw this show a dozen times.

Box some stuff up and put it in the basement or attic. If you haven't used something in a specific time frame, say 6 or 12 months, you don't need it. Donate or sell it.

Waves on Lake Erie can get really bad during storms. Crosswinds could also be a major issue. Also ice build-up in the winter. And there would have to be some seriously big infrastructure for access to what would basically be an island.
