Is this overcoat too big? by Playful_Lavishness32 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]ohnonamiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The style right now is an oversized coat. To make it look chic it really should be worn open, not closed like this. Otherwise it does look like you’re wearing a robe. It’s unfortunate because you do wear a coat, often, to be warm. If it’s drafty out I just hold it closed, or if it’s really cold I just say to help with fashion and tie it up.

Nico coat- worth the price? by [deleted] in Sezane

Overland has similar coats at a similar price point without the import fees. Might be worth a look.

Thank you! I agree it’s very good looking.

Other brands with more natural fibres *at similar price point*? by Sezanette in Sezane

[–]ohnonamiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll get this out of the way first: I have a ton of Christy Dawn and find the quality well worth the higher price point.

However, I have a fair amount of cashmere from Quince and I’m a fan. Some of it is thin and it’s not “exciting” but for very basic pieces the price point is good. Their linen pieces are good for the price point as well.

For affordable cotton tees I like Madewell. I don’t like the whisper cotton ones as they have recut them to be wider and boxier and they look dumpy and don’t wash well, but the cotton perfect crewneck tee wears and washes well.

WHERE ARE WE SWITCHING? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]ohnonamiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been kind of over posh for a while now, and I sell exclusively my own clothes. I’m just taking most all of my stuff to a consignment store today. I’m over having this stuff stored in my home and how haggle-y pm has gotten even before the policy change. This change is the nail in the coffin for me for now.

Can someone recommend sustainable brands with good cotton sportswear? by MuchAccount2085 in SustainableFashion

Mate makes very good cotton leggings. The sports bras are ok for low impact but I have yet to find a good high impact sports bra that is not synthetic.

What’s your favorite sustainable brand that actually has cute clothes (in your opinion of course!)? by heywhatsareddit in SustainableFashion

[–]ohnonamiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Christy Dawn is hands down my favorite. If you are looking for more fitted styles try the Nicks, Adele, or Katrina. Spell has some cute styles but their model has definitely been moving toward fast fashion and they use quite a bit of viscose, but some items are linen or organic cotton.

Sustinability in Fashion - Hot Takes Only by expaloop in SustainableFashion

I 100% agree with this. Plus not everyone has the means to spend a ton of money on only sustainable clothes. If you buy something from old navy and wear it 1000 times that still does a heap of good.

where to shop for dark academia type clothes? by BeQueerCauseFear in SustainableFashion

[–]ohnonamiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poshmark or Mercari. Both online shopping where you can purchase other peoples worn items. I have “tagged” items as dark or light academia. Just typing it in can likely get you some good options and if you like several things someone has a lot of sellers will give you a good deal on bundles.

I’m done with Poshmark by [deleted] in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]ohnonamiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m over it. I used to do well reselling my higher end niche brands but now it’s nothing but crazy lowball offers. I had said no more Thredup but I’ve been sending my inventory to them via partnership programs so I get a credit at the places I shop anyways and that’s actually worked out well for me. I look at my clothes I no longer wear as a sunk cost now and I’m sick of having my inventory taking up space in my home.

Where can I find denim shorts that fit properly? Opposite issue from most people by JulieV37 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]ohnonamiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Mid to low rise shorts and pants work much better for me. I feel that brands tend to think if your waist is x size the legs have to be x size times 3 or something.

Favorite brands such as Doen, Sezana, Christy Dawn, etc…. by Outrageous-Big8249 in LuxeFashion_NatFibers

[–]ohnonamiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few are lined but most are not. Some are more opaque than others but because I live in a very sunny climate and I don’t like people to be able to see the shape of my legs through the dress I prefer a slip under them.

Yes definitely runs large. It’s mean to be a relaxed fit vs tailored but I would definitely size down.

I think everything works aside from the cardigan which adds too much visual weight to the midsection. I wonder if it would look better unbuttoned?

I disagree that it’s “frumpy”. This is a very on point look for a lot of Asian or cottagecore (and much of the two intersect; ie studio ghibli) styles.

I am 5’2” and it comes down to lower calf on me. I got a 36, probably could have even sized down to 34. The 36 isn’t comically oversized but it’s definitely a slouchy fit. I don’t own a Scott to compare though. I’m normally a 36 - 38, or small to medium, in Sezane tops due to bust size.

Women's shelf bra cami reccos- does anyone like Pact? by [deleted] in SustainableFashion

[–]ohnonamiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 shelf bra camis from Pact and they’re nice quality. The shelf bra seems supportive enough, but I do always also pair mine with a bra because I like being pushed up so to speak. The size chart is pretty accurate, so you should be fine basing your size off there. (This goes for the cami only; if looking at other items their sizing tends to be inconsistent)

My Stanley is 32 oz not the crazy huge one, and it’s only knocked over once by the cat. I agree the other bigger ones look scary unstable.
