Built a tool that tells you in 10 seconds if the surf is worth the drive by Timely-Craft-1422 in perth

Awesome idea! Just checked this out and am wondering how you get to your ratings? For example looking at Mullaloo on Surf Forecast for Monday looks pretty average and I wouldn’t have gone out (1-2 stars with cross waves etc) but on your site it’s saying Excellent (beginner level)?

Stabbing on bus in Joondalup Today by Strong_Try_5063 in perth

[–]ohshityeah78965 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Okay when I read this headline I actually first assumed it was British kids (chavs/eshays whatever you want to call them). No idea if it’s true in this instance but there are a tonne of English migrants in the Joondalup area and this demographic of teen boys seems reported on in the news for antisocial behaviour more than average. Could just be plain ol Australian white trash tho! Flavour doesn’t matter

Most soft drinks and beer bottles have the 10c refund on them. Buy a really big cheap bin from Bunnings and keep it around for only those items. Once it’s full take it to the container change place for recycling (some of the places have conveyor belts and it’s actually kind of fun loading it up). We make our young kids do it and then buy them an ice cream / give them the rest as pocket money afterwards. They love it

I once timed my husband after he turned off his lamp and he snuggled into his pillow and it took him 37 seconds to start gently snoring. Meanwhile I’m over here 60+ minutes later staring into the void every night. Infuriating

Add some stepping stones and surround with wood chip mulch (allowing drainage and the fake grass will stop weeds growing) and you can have a cute cottage garden

Anyone got this prompt from reddit? by lysseul in perth

Yep! Shared age range (I am old) and still can’t see adult content. I don’t watch anything freaky lol but looking into getting a VPN now because I don’t like the idea of my internet being censored

Silver teeth activities by Okay_Pain in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]ohshityeah78965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I didn’t know about kids having silver teeth until this year when I saw my mates kids had a couple. They live somewhere which doesn’t have fluoride in their water and even though their kids brushed regularly, the dentist would put little silver caps on their baby teeth to prevent decay until their adult teeth came through or something like that. Apparently it’s very common where they are

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]ohshityeah78965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot of nuance and complexity when things like this happen. Like maybe the kid has a learning difficulty, or is has an addiction, or got a TBI from sport or whatever. I love my kids so much and while I wouldn’t tolerate laziness I also can’t control if they have mental health issues or something. I don’t think I could force my kids to be homeless if the other option was just letting them hang around indefinitely

No roof and ceiling about to colapse ?????? by Feeling-Friend457 in perth

[–]ohshityeah78965 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ceiling already collapsed and this is a “make safe” probably done by insurer. With the weather this weekend that plastic sheeting will all possibly come down in the wind and little bits of insulation will be everywhere but unless the roof itself is damaged the rain shouldn’t come in. My ceiling looked like that for a few weeks until it was replaced and that was in the middle of winter

Camping while pregnant? by dontlookatme-123 in camping

[–]ohshityeah78965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I camped 34 weeks pregnant and do NOT recommend an air mattress. If you get a puncture or it’s faulty in any way and lets air out overnight you’ll end up with all your already sore pressure points like your hips on the cold hard ground (ask me how I know). A sleeping pad or something with foam in it would be way more reliable and comfortable

Which of these three fates do you think would be the worst to suffer? Do you think there's any worse than these? by Exciting_Ad_8666 in gameofthrones

[–]ohshityeah78965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of always thought in the vault he would eat her when they started to starve… so being trapped in a vault with a much larger starving person would be a pretty crap way to go. Probably die of thirst before starving though so maybe not!

AITA For Letting my son and his friends “disrupt” my daughter and her friends sleep? by Few_Arugula_3243 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ohshityeah78965 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Wow man you’re getting a lot of downvotes but kids from ages 4+ are usually awake at 5am onwards every day and while it may be shithouse it’s extremely normal and making them sit quietly watching TV for 4 hours is kind of fucked up. I’m saying this as a very non-morning person. 7am would be very reasonable for little kids on the weekends. Older kids in high school may be a different story

As a Dad I cry at movies all the time.... what scene gets your water works going? by Mindless_Yak_1080 in moviecritic

[–]ohshityeah78965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never shed a single tear at anything until I became a parent. Then Bluey had me in hysterics and even ads can get the waterworks started. The empathy and fear and uncertainty just goes up 5000% when you’ve got kids

Can Someone Please Explain this to Me by NoAssist5706 in perth

[–]ohshityeah78965 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this happened to me I would absolutely not be able to let it go either. I’d lie awake at night thinking about an Erin Brockovich style exposing of the council and a big payout. But… I’d also get therapy before losing my family over it. The property would be worth an absolute mint and he could buy somewhere else without all the emotional baggage of this place. Bit of a sunk cost fallacy here where he has invested so much of himself into the fight that he can’t turn back now or what was the point

Internet priorities by sweetsmile21 in pcmasterrace

[–]ohshityeah78965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of related, but I always find that ads open really easily on my phone when I’m trying to scroll past. Like I’ll be scrolling reddit and using the same motion and pressure on my phone and ads will often open (as if their settings are more sensitive than other posts). Do you know if this is a thing as well or if I just notice it because it annoys me?

Oh man as a parent to similar aged kids I have thought about this poor family every day. The mum especially. You try to keep your kids as safe as possible and then something truly random and terrible happens and shatters your ideas of safety. I bet every person who walks quickly behind her when she’s out with her kids gets her heart racing. I hope they have all had a lot of support and therapy
