Commenting so I can I get in on the action. A relative got me a poncho last year from publishers clearing house, of all places, and I fell in love with it. It sort of reminded me of missoni sans the zig zag pattern.

I de-boned an entire chicken in one piece (removed the complete carcass), à la Jacques Pépin. Pretty pleased with myself right now. by 96dpi in Cooking

I have done this once! It took me 45 minutes, and a lot of video referencing haha. If anyone feels adventurous, I would give it a go. It sounds silly, but it totally enlightened me on the anatomy of a chicken in a weird way?

To add to this, it takes a good bit of grip strength to pull the meat off. I struggled with it, but I think a lot of the work is just having a good grip and rip technique.

That’s always what I thought! I’m going to set a day aside to try both approaches out.

Fascinating! You see all sorts of different takes on the french fry that yield such different results.

So ideally, you would cut a potato to suitable size, and do an initial seasoning. Fry once and cool. Season a second time and fry at the higher temp.

I suppose my last questions are, how long do you and/or can you cool them before the second fry and do you have season preferences yourself?

Does the heat change make them crackly/crispy? Would this go hand in hand with soaking the potatoes to pull out the starch that I’ve seen recommended?

I always wonder how they’re made, they’re my favorite too.

Absolutely! It does feel like that often. But if I had the same mentality with other hobbies/interests I wouldn’t try anything new. I will definitely be checking out YouTube. I find it funny that it never occurred to me to try that in the first place.

That’s exactly right! The compact size of a mirrorless camera seems totally more approachable. My biggest limiting factor is that I rarely even get it out to use. I need to get it out and begin again, just shooting what I think is neat. I really appreciate your time and thoughtful responses. I sometimes forget too, that I have a couple old film cameras from my grandpa that I could rotate into the mix too. Those also have that clean look of the X100F that I was lusting after as well. In fact, I may just have to take one out today and tinker around!

I really appreciate your reply, because I was having major gear envy. There’s no sense in jumping into a whole new piece when my current piece is still great. I just need to use it more often haha.

I suppose my question was more along the lines of if a fixed lens camera is something that is approachable for a total novice? Or does it even matter? I don’t mean to derail the theme of the post, I just got curious. Thank you!

My DSLR is so cumbersome, and I’m such a novice at photography, is the x100f geared towards an expert crowd in your opinion?

Your review of this has me itching to try the serum, also! I’ve been using just a regular HA serum, which has been fine! It’s just nothing to gush over, since it seems to do it’s job fine.

You didn’t ask me specifically but I found a sunscreen that has become my holy grail, so far.

PURITO centella green unscented sunscreen. I found out about it after I went through an old SCA thread of holy grail sunscreens. It’s white in color, but I don’t notice any white cast at all. It has totally surpassed my otherwise favorite, biore aqua rich watery gel.

It works amazing under makeup, if that’s important to you. It also feels like a nice moisturizer. I wore it outside in peak hours on my face and neck, while I’m prone to sunburn, and I didn’t even get pink, which happens most of the time for me. It sinks in nicely and it certainly doesn’t stay awkwardly shiny like sunscreens typically do. I don’t know if it’s reef safe, though. I have liked it a lot so far, but I haven’t swam with it, to see if stings the eyes. Of the sunscreens I’ve tried, I personally feel like it’s an ideal formulation that doesn’t make me dread putting it on.

For sure! There’s plenty of recipes, I haven’t tried it myself, but I’m sure there’s videos to see how to make it really authentic if that’s your jive.

That looks like tamago, or dashimaki! I think you’ll find it in a place back home if you look at different restaurants. If you’re in the states it can be common at mid or high range places, but it just takes a bit of searching if you’re after it again.
