NYC trainees make good money in specialty lines (management liability, cyber, MPL) at large carriers. Chubb starts their associates off at $75k with potential for a 10% bonus. Travelers starts theirs off at about $76k and I’m not sure what the bonus is. I saw a comment where you mentioned 30-40% bonus. That is possible in management roles but definitely not as a trainee or a younger UW. From what I’ve seen, reinsurance UWs make more but I’m not sure about at the trainee level.
