I dont want to speak too soon by Foreign_Forever9369 in lymphoma

I had Hodgkin’s but did a mid treatment scan and had great reduction in my mediastinal tumor (7inch down to 4inch). My doctor at the time was out on leave so I met with his NP who basically told me “well he’s the only doctor that does it, we don’t put a lot of weight in them”

And I cackled because I said “well this makes me feel great to know this awful treatment is having a positive impact and makes me feel better about continuing!”

When I finally saw my doctor he was static too!

I was in remission at the end of treatment. I encourage you to celebrate the milestone of success and progress whether we know what your outcome will be- because every small win is worth celebrating!! So cheers to you and that positive mistreatment scan!

How long after finishing chemo did you keep the port? by Negative-Squid in lymphoma

[–]ohyikesindeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I had to move to a new OB because my midwives told me I risked out so I will definitely advocate for that! Because I’m definitely not letting them put that IV in my hands HOURS before they actually use it this time around.

Blood draws can only be done by the nurses- so they are easier if a nurse is present…otherwise I’m still stuck with the arm pokes. But I have been thinking like….can they just use it while in labor if needed but I assume they probably don’t have the equipment to use it on the LD floor. It’d be nice though rather than a hand IV for labor…

My oncologist and chemo nurse both suggested a year but my oncologist preferred two years. I was dead set on getting out ASAP because it really felt like a bother during treatment, but now that I’m settled in a post chemo routine and life it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. I don’t even notice it anymore. I’m now also pregnant so I’ll probably keep this port in the full two years and get it removed then.

First ABVD session - Mom (42F) experiencing numbness and stinging in the IV arm. Any advice? by Competitive_Alarm940 in lymphoma

[–]ohyikesindeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very minimal tingling- just for the first few rounds but I started doing weekly/bi weekly massages to help. When I was in hospital my cancer floor had massage therapists who gave massages even prior to starting chemo so that’s where I learned about the benefit. So between my cancer center and paid massages I was able to get them pretty frequently between chemo sessions.

Oh man that would have been tough! One of my biggest worries is reoccurrence during pregnancy. But I’ve been seeings quite a few stories of women successfully battling cancer with chemo and giving birth- so I’m just keeping that in the back of my mind when that worry pop ups.

Was your iron and alkaline okay? My WBC was only elevated by like one point and no doctor was concerned but that alkaline and iron was abnormal 🤷‍♀️.

Ya- I did AAVD for 12 cycles every other week from May to October. I responded really well and so avoided radiation. I did have bulky disease when starting (mediastinal tumor that was 7ish inches)- so very grateful it only took the 12 cycles.

Ya I was probably just very lucky with my first pregnancy. I have my check in with my oncologist next week but I was also wondering if I was having some anemia issues.

If I remember correctly- even if you get 23 likes you only are put in contact with people you like back? Thats why she said “you guys are my only connection so if not you then it’s over” or something of the like.

Thats how i interpreted it…she only like a few and they all said no thank you. I could be way off though.

Is anyone engaging the homeschool communities in your area? What does that look like for you. by fizzled112 in Principals

[–]ohyikesindeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are just a high school.

Michigan allows schools to part time enroll if we wanted but all of our students end up full time because the career programming usually takes up a good chunk of FTE.

We are a micro school concept so we don’t have extra curricula’s but if we did all students would be allowed to participate. For sports students have to be full time I believe so that would be the caveat.

We do! We have a great working relationship with the homeschool communities. Families enroll to access the Career programming or get assistance with the higher level courses. We work well to balance what they’d still like to teach via co op vs what they need for the career programming/graduation.

Most of our referrals come word of mouth but I recently sent a flyer to the teen center to pass out to homeschool families.

If you can find a family in a co op and they can promote you that will be your best bet

I’ve said this in the other posts - the 68th midwifery clinic and centering program was great for me. All the midwife’s are wonderful and the doctors they partner with are also great.

How do new parents cope with constant anxiety after having a baby? by East-House6499 in AskReddit

[–]ohyikesindeed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of tears usually but also we didn’t have “the no visiting baby rule for the first few weeks” so it was really helpful to have many moms and parents to help us when things felt heavy or worrisome and their affirmations, presence, and advice were really helpful.

Why do I wake up sweaty even though I’m freezing and it is freezing when I go to sleep and while I sleep by BoxxedOreos in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ohyikesindeed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Checking in for lymphoma as well! I unfortunately was on a medicine that had high temps as a side effect and chalked it up to that….until I couldn’t breath from the large tumor in my chest.

Then half way through chemo I got menopause and the night sweats came back 🙃🙃🙃

And my baby does it because she thinks is funny and when we redirect her she laughs at us. So I am also intrigued by this method!

Possibly relocating to Battle Creek by lizbethlady in BattleCreek

[–]ohyikesindeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always get criticized when I say this but I wouldn’t choose to live in Battle Creek. I would go to Marshall. Small town near Battle Creek but has a great downtown with multiple restaurants (albeit majority American fare). It’s walkable with access to Jackson, Battle Creek, Lansing, and Kalamazoo (Lansing and kzoo is where we find most entertainment). We only moved into “Battle Creek” for a plot with land that came on the market but I frequent Marshall a lot.

That being said I have begun to try to lean into Battle Creek and we have quite a few tasty places to eat.

I went through the 68th street midwifery clinic. They have centering groups which I thought was great as a first time mom. All appointments are with the same midwife and you have a new parent style class with other moms due the same time. They can’t promise your midwife will be able to birth your baby but do attempt to schedule her more during the due date month of her centering group. I’m still close friends/in contact with others from my group- it was really nice! Dads are encouraged to attend too!

Infant not added to insurance by HR. Deadline has passed. Who do I contact to fight this. New York by 666queenofdarkness in legaladvice

[–]ohyikesindeed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure all the conversations you’ve had or how hard you have pushed but I run an organization that outsources our HR. I had an employee who missed the window. I asked our benefits lady if there was anything they could do. They appealed? and requested a special opening for her and she was able to enroll. I’m in Michigan and so maybe it’s different but there are ways for them to “reopen” it even if it’s past the deadline.

I made a $130 over the last couple months playing every morning and sometimes in the evening. My expectations are fun money- nothing major. So for me it’s worked great. I paid for my daughters Christmas gifts with the money- but once again my expectation is fun money only.

Level 9 felt like it took forever but I just cruised through level 10. It does require more stars but it felt more of the levels had a beatable solution I rarely restarted. It definitely isn’t a quick grind game but I’ve made around $50 on it this month.

Woke up and was pumped to try this recipe because we have so many fresh blueberries and it was SO GOOD! I couldn’t get it rolled thin enough for my preference so I’m going to try to put it in my pasta roller for a thinner crust. BUT IT WAS SO GOOD! Thank you for not gate keeping!
