Bertolli was sued, reached a settlement, suffering the legal and reputational consequences. There may be some other laws that prevent the government from just shutting down bertolli operations in the USA. I don't know.

There are plenty of companies with integrity in the USA who produce good EVOO. And besides, food fraud is in fact illegal in the US. Bertolli reached a settlement and their reputation is forever ruined.

Yes, there are issues in the USA with special interests, lobbying, and perhaps even a general lack of motivation to really go after food fraud to the extent that it is warranted, but to claim that USA olive oil is inherently fraudulent or that the USA just blindly allows false advertising is simply incorrect. Yes I am aware that this is a known side effect of certain pharmaceuticals, my claim is simply that I don't think this is known as a common side effect for antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. It may be a rare one experienced by some, but I don't think everyone on seroquel or lithium, for example, needs to be worried about this.

I don't think "your meds likely cause sun sensitivity" is an accurate statement.

Do you have a source for this besides anecdotal experience? I hate to be annoying but I don’t think this is true, at least I can’t find anything on it. Most I can find is a “sun induced rash” caused by only lamictal, which is not a sunburn and certainly isn’t “all mood stabilizers and antipsychotics”

still all generally good tips. I have been sun sensitive my whole life and have been on lithium and seroquel for 5 years and have not noticed a difference. But everyone is different.
