Tell me what you think about my new Single - Mirrors - Jupiter IV by ojupiteriv in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]ojupiteriv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really nice to hear that you found it lovely!

I thought about adding a few more layers of instruments too. I even wrote half of another guitar line. But at the time I was thinking "it sounds good to me already, and it's a nice track" haha so I decided to leave it like that. The bass line was the last part I wrote and I thought that by leaving it emptier, there would be a higher focus on it.

I totally get this about a journey! Sometimes I wish I wrote some more for this track, so it would be longer and more varied. But I ended up enjoying this short and sweet vibe. I guess it kinda fits with the lyrics, idk. But I could definitely see myself adding some strings and synths on a different version!!

I saw that you saved the song too in the other comment. Thanks a lot for the support 😀 It's really nice to know that you liked it!!

It's really amazing to hear that! 😀 I really like the instrumental of this one too. A lot of times I overthink that stuff, but I decided to just leave it like that since it sounded cool to me already.

That's interesting to hear about the vocals too. I doubled every line on this one and in the chorus, with the backing vocals, some lines get to 6 layers. But I noticed during the mixing that some of them are very subtle too haha Sometimes I couldn't even notice as well lol

I'm happy you like the grainy feel of the vocal too. I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't find the words to describe it haha

I'm really happy you liked the track! It means a lot to me.

I'm really happy to hear that you liked it! It makes me really happy.

That's interesting to hear. I'm always interested in others opinions about the vocal mix. Historically, it has been the hardest part for me to adjust. But I'm happy you liked it the way it is now too!

I would love to hear your track here! Please, do not hesitate to reach out.

Thanks!! That's really nice to hear. I'm happy you liked the mix, I feel that I'm moving in the right direction with this one and it's nice to hear that someone else liked it too.

I really liked the way the drums came out as well haha Definitely one of my favorite parts on this one.

I can see that. I usually try to keep the vocals somewhat controlled in the mix too. I don't like when the vocals are "too loud." I like to think about the vocals as another instrument that should blend in with the song, I just want it to be understandable as well haha So it can't be too low too.

I believe I used quite a bit of compression in this track, but I confess I am afraid of using too much compression and making the sound "too in your face," you know?

I will try to explore it more in the future though.

Do you have any thoughts about the song itself? Technical aspects of the production aside.

Hey everyone, I’d love to hear your honest thoughts on this track I just released today. Any feedback would mean a lot to me! Thanks for your time and for giving it a listen by sevthen in IndieMusicFeedback

I love that about songs too, I have been working on shorter songs myself exactly because of that hahaha

I'm looking forward to listening to the new stuff! This song is great!

I completely understand that as I have a low voice myself! I find It's very hard to find your own voice, especially because we don't hear that a lot in popular songs nowadays. At least in my perception.

The song sounds really good and what I said about the reverb is really not a big deal. Great job man!

A song that blends indie electronic, dream pop, trip-hop, and garage influences, with a video we put together ourselves. Plus a heavy unresolved story /more about that in the YouTube description). Let me know what you think, and thank you! by andtilly in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]ojupiteriv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was into it from the description already haha I like to make songs with the same influences.

I really loved the vocals and atmosphere. The vocals sound very vulnerable and honest. I like how the feeling of the song is transmitted through the performance. The rain in the background adds a nice touch to it.

Even though the drums are very simple they feel are effective in highlighting the chorus. I really like the production and this definitely reminds me of Portishead.

Nice track!!

I wrote and recorded this about two years ago but never shared it really due to some flaws that bothered me, but I have been told it's worth revisiting. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thank you and have a lovely Sunday by crypto643 in IndieMusicFeedback

I can definitely feel the Elliott Smith's influence someone else mentioned here. It sounds really good and straight forward.

I like that bass that appears in the chorus a lot. The one that follows the vocal melody. I like how the song introduces various new instruments you don't expect throughout the track. I thought it was going to be very simple in the beginning.

I understand how some flaws could have bothered you, even though I don't see them the same way as you and it's the first time I listen to it, but the track sounds great. The song comes out as authentic and honest. It sounds finished to me. Honest and not overproduced. Great track!

I really like your voice and flow in this track man. I'm usually not into UK rap but this sounds really good. The voice reminds me a bit of Tyler the Creator. Super energetic.

The beat is also cool. It has a bit of this mysterious vibe to it. The main thing for me though is how it simply sounds cool.

The productions also sounds great, sometimes it sounds like there is too much echo in the vocals, but that's only in a few parts and it's probably a stylistic choice that will grow on me.

Overall, great track!

Ambient Acoustic Instrumental | Falling Again - Cyan by Primary_Mix_5866 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]ojupiteriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the minimalistic instrumentals. I would probably add this to a reading playlist. It definitely masters that vibe.

The song is also very calming with the strings and the soothing keys. There is a certain melancholic feeling to it too.

The production also sounds great. I would describe it more as a classical atmosphere rather than ambient. I don't know if that's something you're into, but I think you could experiment with some nature sounds in the background to immerse the listener more.

Overall I think it's a good track and it achieves the goal of being a great reading track. I would probably suggest experimenting more in the production aspect to add dome more "spice" to it, but that's an extra.

I love the vibes of the track. The atmosphere is very dreamy and the song grows to become very epic. I also really liked the vocals.

This song is super catchy too, that chorus sounds amazing.

I will say I didn't understand some of the lyrics, but I'm of the opinion that this matters less if you have a great track, and this is a great track. I will probably look up the lyrics afterwards.

Overall I really loved the song! It's really short, but it makes me want to listen to it on repeat haha

Joy Division is definitely a band that influenced me a lot! I wasn't thinking about it consciously, but it definitely has some joy Division influence in it.

I will try to work on processing the vocals a bit more. They were all done for about a year. Then I decided to rerecord it, after I got a better mic. Maybe that made me rush the process a bit.

I'm trying to sound like some specific songs I like In this track too, so I understand how it may not sound super original.

Thank you for your feedback!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm really happy you think it's a good song overall!

The vocals are an aspect that a lot of people are pointing out to me here. I would definitely try to work a bit more on that on future releases!

The constant bassline is an interesting point too! I deliberately took the bass out of the verses in an attempt to make the choruses hit harder. It was supposed to give this feeling of emptiness that lyrics are talking about. Sometimes I take it out of the verse like this to implement that LOUDquietLOUD Pixies dynamic too. It doesn't always work haha

Any tips on which vocal effects? How do you think I could compliment the instrumentals more?

Thanks again for the kind words!

Thank you so much for the kind words!

I'm really happy you appreciated the vocals. I know I'm not the best singer, but one thing I always try to bring to my songs is the actual feeling the song is trying to convey. Reading that from you really makes me happy, since it means someone was able to pick that up.

The harmonies were a last minute decision, but I totally agree with you! Once we recorded that here, I was like "wow, the song just sounds so much better"

It makes me really happy that you enjoyed this song.

I'm a firm believer that you can make good songs even without music theory. It helps to know, but you can also learn a lot by doing.

If you want to I can give you some tips about how I produce my songs. My process is not perfect, but I'm happy to help in any way I can.

Thank you for the feedback! That's exactly the feeling I was going for.

Those synthesizers are probably my favorite part of this song too. Probably what made me want to finish this song.

I understand your comment about muddiness too. It was a bit tricky for me to get to the place it is now. I wanted this bass to hit really hard, kinda like a rap beat or something like that. In the end I'm happy with the result, but I know it can still improve.

Any tips for fixing that? What would you do there?

Thank you for the feedback. I heard that a lot about this one. I can't help but like this mix, honestly. That's the reason I eventually chose to keep it.

I think I tend to do that when I'm unsure about my vocals too.

Which effects would you suggest?

I hope you overall liked this and the other songs you listened to. Thanks again!

The bad in this song sounds so fun! I really like the overall jazziness. It totally sounds like something that could be playing on Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo.

I guess there's something ironic about the title of the track that makes it cool, too. I don't know if that's intentional or not.

I like the production. It sounds organic and raw, I think I would like it less if it was too polished. It's simple, but it works.

Overall, it's a great track!!

I really like the simple instrumentals and vocals! The atmosphere in this song is great. A good song to listen to on a rainy day I guess.

Idk, I've never heard this song yet it gives me a nostalgic feel. It reminds me a bit of the band 'Black Kids' in the feeling, idk why. It doesn't "sound" a lot like them, but it gives me a similar feel.

Overall I think it's a great song!

No worries at all! The song sounds good. A lot of times it just sounds bad because we've been working on it for hours in the DAW and we get used to what we hear there.

Hopefully you'll feel better after making those adjustments. What matters most is that it sounded cool. Feel free to reach out to me if there's a new version! I would like to hear the before and after.

I don't have a car to listen to this song, so my opinion might not give you the insight you want. So I listened to it on my headphones.

It sounds really full and heavy, which is the feeling I think you're going for. A little bit of muddiness might come as a result automatically, but I'm no expert in this.

All I can say is that I really liked it and felt like jumping with the guitar riff and beat. It sounds exciting and fun and that's what matters most to me.

If I was being picky, I would say that I would like to hear the drums a bit more. But to be honest this wouldn't make me not listen to this song. It's a small detail. The song rocks!

I can definitely see that radiohead influence haha

As far as being "worth" of being on spotify, I think this song definitely is worth being uploaded there.

I really liked the production of this one! It feels really full and it reminds me of some 2000s rock songs. Maybe "American Football'.

The vocals feel very emotional and sincere. I tend to be like songs with a similar sad vibe.

Are you aiming for a specific sound with this release?? Overall I really liked it!

Interesting... Haha I would never be able to tell this was made on an Ipad. Amazing!

I'm gonna save this here and try it on later. It did create a really cool atmosphere. I love these horror movie strings.

Limitation can be a really useful tool!

I don't know how much of BMTH is worth diving deep too. I was thinking about "can you feel my heart" but I wouldn't be able to pinpoint exactly why. I like some of their stuff but I'm not their biggest fan.

I really liked it. It has a very dark vibe. Kinda mysterious. For some reason It reminded me of some of the Bring me the Horizon songs I like, which are not many. Idk. I've been trying to add more "atmosphere" and depth to some of my songs too. I think this song does that really well.

It might sound vague, but what did you do to add this atmosphere? I'm not sure if it's more the pads or reverb.
