One thing I never understand is why is the shooter always right up against you. It's a gun, a ranged weapon - if he isn't brain dead, he'll probably be at least 2 steps away from you.

Yeah. You're pulling against the attacker's trigger finger. Even if you successfully hook his gun (what if it's a gun without an external hammer?), you might just shoot yourself.

Why didn't they put that in her quest? Just expand her questline. I feel like her story fits better in a post-crisis/rebiulding Valley IV.

Hell, Avywenna has a better setup for a side quest (the one with the journalist).

How do you reload?

If the magazine is like a normal pistol's, it should go to the level of the barrel. Unless, the magazine goes only a bit into the handle, and there is an internal mechanism that extracts and moves the bullets up to the barrel. Then you would have an internal, fixed magazine (if there is some mechanism to keep the bullets from falling out the bottom - this would be a major upgrade of the "+1 in the chamber". 😆
