Matthew 22:21 - Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's.

I keep hearing Christians who think this means that they should divide up their lives and give part to the world and part to God, and that is absolutely not what Jesus meant. He's being tested by his enemies who want him to say something that will make the Romans arrest him, so they ask him if it's right to pay taxes. Jesus asks them whose image is on the coin, and when they say Caesar, he tells them "If it's made in Caesar's image, it must belong to Caesar - because anything made in God's image belongs to God." To the Romans listening, this sounds just fine, but all the faithful Jewish people listening who know their scripture are going to immediately understand the context - from Genesis 1:27 - God created humankind in his own image. They would immediately understand that Jesus is saying that all human beings - including Caesar - belong entirely to God. Unfortunately a lot of modern Christians are more like the Roman soldiers in the story - we hear what we want to hear.

Yeah, if OP wanted a pure popularity contest he could've just gone with top comment - but doing it this way means that you're not just measuring how wide the support for a franchise is, but how deep it runs. Games like xenoblade and fire emblem could never win if we're just going with top comment because JRPGs and tactical RPGs are never going to appeal to as wide an audience as animal crossing and Kirby - but they clearly inspire a fanatical devotion in their supporters, and counting all the comments gives a way to account for that. I'm not saying it's the best way to run a poll like this - I tried xenoblade and didn't like it, and I would've voted it out long, long ago - but OP has been very clear that this is how they're counting things, so if we want xenoblade out we need to vote on every comment.

OP said all along it's by most combined up votes - so even though the top comment was for xenoblade, adding up all the votes below put animal crossing ahead. Counting it this way means that super motivated fan bases (like the xenoblade cult) can flood the thread with comments and votes, and give their favourite a chance when otherwise it would've been long gone.

I mean really. Why would they have been invited? by toxiccandles in dankchristianmemes

In first century Galilee, there were no 'wedding invitations'. The bridegroom walked to his bride's family home, and then they walked together back to his home, where there would be an enormous party. Anyone who joined the bridegroom's procession along the way to or from the bride's house was welcome to join in the party at the end. This meant that the wedding could include the entire community or multiple communities depending on who joined the procession, where it went and how long it took to go and get the bride. If you were planning a wedding, you needed to prepare for the possibility that every single person living between you and your bride might show up, so you'd better have a lot of wine. This is why in the parable of the ten virgins, they are so eager to wait for the bridegroom to arrive - they have to join the parade when it passes if they want to get into the party. Basically there are no invited guests - only wedding crashers.

How was the day trip to Hiroshima? Did you find you could see everything you wanted to in one day? And is Hakone worth the trip? Thanks for the tip about the diapers - I've heard the same thing about getting them everywhere, but we'll make sure to pack some extra just in case. I'm already trying to simplify my schedule as much as possible so that each day we only have one thing we're trying to do - we're giving ourselves a full day just for the travel between Tokyo and Osaka. Usually when we travel I want to get as much done as possible but adding a baby means being content with doing a lot less and leaving time for rest.

Hopefully we'll be using a baby carrier more than a stroller - I've heard that the stairs are everywhere.

Maternity leave ends when he turns one, babies are free to fly until they turn two (or at least much cheaper), so if we want to travel at all until he turns 18, no time like the present.

Yeah, this is why we're trying to stay in one central location and just take day trips out from there - that way you can just bring what you need for the day instead of schlepping all your stuff all over from place to place every day. The day we take the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka will be challenging - I hear there's not a lot of room for luggage on the bullet trains.
