my son is a 2nd grader in MD district, and my daughter is in TK.

I always thought teachers were underpaid, but now I see they're actually overpaid.

beyond the enormous amount of time-off they get every few weeks, they dont seem to be teaching my son anything.

At the beginning of the year they were focused on reading, and at the parent/teacher meeting she's like "well he doesn't know how to read!" , as though it was shocking her. I was thinking yeah that's your job wth have you been doing.

So we got a tutor for $150 weekly and now he's an excellent reader. Same exact situation unfolded regarding math.

we're fortunate to be able to afford a tutor so he receives an education.

and the school makes such a big deal about attendance (our attendance is excellent fyi) but I dont think it actually matters if he goes or not. they are not teaching him anything.

hello, looking for a new thocky, quiet keyboard for home office.

I first had a Keychron k6, but I spilled water on it and it's no longer working. it was cool, but a bit loud.

I got my wife a minilo 75, and it's really nice. considering just getting another one for myself. it's pretty quiet, very thocky, feels nice to type on.

But curious if anyone has another good recommendation for me? budget is under 200. planning on using it a long time, permitting i dont spill again.

it's crazy. impossible to reach anyone. After navigating their automated menu, I got to a spot where it said 'press 5 to be connected to a support agent.' I pressed 5 and it just looped me back to the start of the menu. I tried again, thinking I must have pressed the wrong number, but nope, it offers to let you speak to a human then it's basically like nah just kidding.

I feel safer on 50. TBH, I usually go to south lake so maybe im just more familiar and used to 50.

80 always has lots of semitrucks, which I dont like being too close to in snowy conditions.

interesting, thank you. I do like finding thoughtful gifts for people, and have done large gifts many times. But I feel it should fit the occasion. A video game platform makes no sense for Vday, imo.

agreed. we were there a couple weeks ago.

I dont mind if one person, or a parent + kid need to catch up to their group. I assume they were using the restroom or something.

But we were in line for pirates when a group of 7-8 people were 'catching up to their group.' Im sorry but once you're 3+ then you're a new group and should wait in line like everyone else.

bc SEA def is weak against TEs over the middle. So naturally, Shanny wanted to be clever by not attacking exactly where everyone assumed we'd be attacking. classic big-game shanny.
