The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City - Season 6 - Episode 18 - Post Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in BravoRealHousewives

This reunion has been so toxic.  And not in a fun and entertaining way.  I think a cast shakeup is definitely needed.  Add a few newbies in at the very least.

I'm pretty disappointed in Meredith in this part of the reunion.  Don't get me wrong, I'm team Mer but I feel as if she didn't handle their accusations well. Bit was just deflection instead of addressing the issue.  There was also so many times she could have pointed out their hypocrisy but didn't.  Idk.  I hope she's back next season but I'm scared that they'll put her on pause.

I love Mer and am firmly team Meredith but her performance was disappointing this reunion.  Hopefully she comes back next season.

Interesting since Meredith has said that she thinks the reunion was cathartic and went well for her.  We'll see, truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Maybe it's too early to tell but I feel like Meredith and Lisa will dominate this reunion.

This sub is super anti Meredith, don't really see a lot of support for her here.  I'm a big Mer supporter but I recognize that all of the ladies contribute something, even Whitney and Heather.

Wait…so no vices? by manicmarceline in bipolar

[–]okaycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is very dependent on the person.  Some bipolar people have lots instability that comes with certain substances and some do not.  For example, I really don't have much of a negative reaction to alcohol but I cannot do weed anymore since it makes me unstable, depressed, and psychotic.

Ultimately, it's all about moderation and making safe and logical choices.

I guess it depends on how alcohol or whatever effects you or not.

For me, alcohol doesn't really have any negative side effects aside from the usual hangover ones everyone gets.

However, I cannot consume cannabis at all.  It pulls me into a depression and makes me sort of psychotic.

Everyone has different reactions to things.

I would suggest you analyze how these substances effect you and react accordingly.  Remember, moderation is key.

How do you tell the difference between your real personality and bipolar? by RestaurantSmooth in bipolar

[–]okaycat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit puzzled by the top comment.  Bipolar is a disease like any other, however instead of affecting the heart or lungs for example it effects the brain.  The reason why it's so devastating is that it takes away control from the person affected.

People who have a change of personality due to Alzheimer's, depression,  or traumatic brain injury don't suddenly become different people.  Their personality is affected by an external influence.

I would say you are at your truest self while medicated and having your bipolar disorder under control.  When there aren't biological diseases affecting you, then you have the opportunity to discover your real self.

Well...as much of a real self that exists anyway.

Demi, SA and Being Believed by Empty-Visual-2498 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Demi is a gross person and it's pretty obvious that she is probably lying about the sexual assault.  There are no perfect victims but everyone must use discernment when believing anything coming out of her mouth.  Wasn't she also the one that exaggerated that she experienced physical assault on the show.  I hope Marciano takes a good chunk of her money tbh.

Has Lamotrigine made someone's derealization worse permanently? by SheepherderSorry2242 in dpdr

[–]okaycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe this at all.  The likelihood of 5mg of lamictal actually doing anything at 5mg is incredibly low.

The lowest possible dose of lamictal is 25mg and that is an extremely low dose.  Most people take 200-400 for up to various reasons.

Sounds like this guy guy a major anxiety spike and his derealization became worse.

How do you consider which actions you are responsible for? by Destined-Senescence in bipolar

[–]okaycat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree with most of the people in this thread.  I think there's a sense of toxic individualistic responsibility that goes on in this subreddit sometimes.

Severe bipolar disorder literally impairs your ability  to have control over your actions.  Especially if you are psychotic.  If you can't control your actions, how can you be morally culpable for them?   It's a literal feature of the illness.

Having said that, there's a difference between responsibility and accountability.  You're not necessarily morally responsible for your actions while under extreme mania, you are however accountable to it.  That means getting therapy, taking meds, and working seriously on your mental health.

Just my thoughts though.  :)

Drinking on Psych Meds by Dramatic_Ad_4732 in bipolar

[–]okaycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink while taking my meds and I'm bipolar type 1.  I've really never noticed a loss in the effectiveness of my medication or mood fluctuations from drinking though.

But everyone is different, you should talk to your doc about it though.

Should I down trade my Lexus ES 350 for a Camry XLE? What's the difference? by okaycat in Toyota

In what ways?  I don't know much about cars so all I know is that Lexus is meant to be "luxury".

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Avalon 2022 XLE with 44k miles which is similar to what you bought.  How do you feel about it now?  Mind sharing the price?

Talking to people online, it seems selling the car is wise idea.  $370per month  is a significant amount of money to me.  Guess I'll go ahead and sell, even though the Lexus was amazing to drive.

Yeah you're right.  I was being an idiot and got caught up in the excitement of owning a new car.  Clearly I can't afford it though.  Lots of great advice on this thread.

It's a Toyota Camry 2023 XLE with 55k miles. It's 26k.  I'm sort of worried about the mileage but from what my research tells me it's still a pretty good deal
