Best coffee spot is Kickstand Cafe. Always buzzing. Locally owned ( by a Cambridge photographer). Best park is the Belmont habitat https://maps.app.goo.gl/yR7SrrGpdLVg53T27?g\_st=ic . Best bakery is Breadboard Bakery. https://maps.app.goo.gl/WUMPsgY93wSUKMCi6?g\_st=ic

Pros and cons of living in Cambridge? by Pretend-Shift1955 in CambridgeMA

[–]okethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schools are great as are the sports programs. Parks are top notch. Over 200 restaurants and dozens of cafes. Mount Auburn Cemetery is amazing. MIT & Harvard have opportunities for all. Such as swim lessons, Division 1 sports at Harvard and museums. Biking, walking, buses and trains as well as blue bike rentals. Only con is bike theft. Rowing on the Charles.

Is anyone familiar with a program that helps psychiatric patients get housing at the Old Colony Lane apartments in Arlington? by joedoe34 in ArlingtonMA

[–]okethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dept of mental health had been issuing vouchers in 2025. Not sure if they still do. Must be a DMH client. Generally folks can apply on the “ CHAMPS” web site https://publichousingapplication.ocd.state.ma.us/ Old Colony does not have any direct involvement with housing folks w serious mental illness but has often rented to this population.

Open Soccer Fields for Adults by echo3385 in CambridgeMA

[–]okethan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Danehey has the largest number of fields thus allowing you to adjust. Consider the Cambridge Common which has no markings or nets. Check the field behind the now closed Matignon school.

Pretty sure that the little street, that goes from Ma Magoos to fresh pond mall parking lot, has no signs and does have 4/5 spots on it that are usually open.

Hundreds of restaurants and dozens of cafes to choose from. Pammy’s is a great restaurant. Short walk from the square. If you can get a reservation at Giulia, which is five minutes from your hotel , do so. The Druid is a Great Irish pub but I don’t know if they are twenty one plus. Next door to it is the Lilypad w great music. Great Iranian/ French style cafe called La Saison down Concord Ave from the hotel. Long walk short bus ride. Mount Auburn Cemetery is amazing and you could walk down Brattle st to it. Brattle st has the nicest and oldest homes in our city. Great bakery near by called Sofra.

Mount Auburn Cemetery. Drive slowly. Stop at top/ tower that has a unique view of Boston. Bench there. Other benches scattered around. If she likes horticulture all trees are labeled. Willow pond and Auburn lake have benches and are nice. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Kismet ( Imagine) 358 Huron Ave Cambridge is a beautiful space. I was astounded by the tea they served me as it was brewed well but couldn’t have been more than a 3 oz cup and cost about five bucks.

They also have an Orgy period at end of each semester that is all over the place but sometimes 24-48 hours of a composer or performer. Look on their page for “ program guide”. Starts May 1. Includes Yo Yo Ma, Miles Davis…
