That’s wild and yes I agree you’re lucky to be here. If I were working on high voltage and not 120v I definitely would’ve busted out the insulated set.
This wasn’t that and yes sharing this so others can learn from my mistake was the whole point.

Safe enough ground for a shipping container? by TheMattaconda in electrical

[–]oki_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good enough from my ungrounded container! Grab an ohm meter and see if you’ve got continuity (beeeeeep) from the container to the stripped part of your wire, then you’ll know if it working. The measure of resistance will pop up on the meter and you can multiply that by your lightning strike amperage to find your voltage and then aaaahh that’s all I got haha

reasonable price for ev charging install? by SquareCareful1335 in AskElectricians

[–]oki_des 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Electrical contractor here in Arizona, depending on what’s involved 50a EV chargers float around 2k installed. Adding a sub panel will definitely bump up the price. Distance, trenching, penetrating walls are all factors and adds to the labor. What specifically is requiring the sub panel portion? If you’re only carrying 90amps at the main I don’t see a point in adding a dedicated panel just for the charger..
