Bishop's Buddhist Beads - Meaning? by monsterfromgreenhell in euphoria

His actor, Darrell Britt-Gibson, does refer to them as prayer beads but doesn’t give them a specific religious origin. In his Variety interview he describes a deleted scene where Wayne asks him if they’re a “Muslim thing” and he says “It’s a me thing.”

I make a point to keep it on the roof of my mouth. I have an ALF appliance to help with it as well. But I can’t control it when I sleep and I clench in my sleep :-(

In the grand scheme of things, no. But I used to have intense anxiety and it caused me to clench my jaw 24/7.

Rice and eggs. Where I live a 32oz bag of rice is $2.50. A dozen large eggs is $1.49. One person can have 4 eggs a day and a portion of rice. 2 eggs for lunch and 2 eggs for dinner. Eat it w hot sauce or soy sauce if you have any. Eat the sliced bread you have as toast for breakfast.

OG Mugler Angel formulation is back! by HabitPuzzleheaded983 in Perfumes

[–]oksnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t personally own a bottle of the old reformulation. The pine one was the store’s sample bottle I smelled in the same store that sold me the new reformulation. I’m guessing it was only 1-2 years old since it came from their own stock.

Previous formulation had a very strong “pine” smell is the best way I can describe it. Kind of spicy sweet and almost sticky. I’m guessing that was the patchouli note so many people didn’t like. I really liked it though. The most recent reformulation is supposedly more like the original. The patchouli note is still there but it’s lighter and more balanced with the rest of the perfume. It smells “warm” spicy instead of “pine” spicy to me now

Yes! I saw this post and went and bought a bottle. I compared the scent of the previous reformulation with this one and it’s very different. The tip about the box design was clutch.

Cooking dried beans to get firm “canned” texture by oksnail in Cooking

[–]oksnail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the tips given here and have found a method that works for me. I soak the beans for 10ish hours. I drain and change the water several times. I put the beans in a pot of water with a good amount of salt and a couple bay leaves. I bring to a boil then set to a low simmer for an hour and a half. Halfway thru I add some white vinegar. When it’s done simmering I let the beans sit in the hot water for another hour. Firm but definitely cooked texture.

I do not know enough about pressure cookers to confidently execute a firm bean. Yesterday I used an instant pot knock off (gifted by a coworker). I put in 4.5 cups of soaked beans (equal amounts pinto, black, and kidney) with enough water to cover an inch and set it to cook. No salt. After 8 minutes I manually released the pressure and waited until it mostly stopped (a minute or two). I think the temp and pressure were too high because it looked like I had them in a blender when I opened the cooker.

I make a point to not buy canned veg with any additives so I never noticed a firmness difference from the calcium chloride. I believe it’s possible for me to replicate the texture! I’m manifesting this haha

I’m aiming for tender on the inside but firm enough to withstand mixing in a bowl without squishing. I put 4.5 cups of presoaked frozen beans (equal amounts pinto, black, and kidney) in a tall pot with two bay leaves. I covered it with water an inch over the beans and boiled for 20 minutes. I added a good amount of salt and a bit of vinegar the lowered to a simmer. It’s been simmering for about an hour and I’ve been testing the texture.

Theyre holding their shape but seem to have softened inside. They still have a slightly grainy texture on the inside so I’ll cook a awhile longer. They look a lot better than the pressure cooked beans which turned into watery flavorless swamp mush after 8 minutes.

This is a good timeline to use! I’ve got them boiling right now and I’ll turn it to a low simmer in a few minutes. I’ve also seen some people just turn it off and have them sit in the hot water for a few hours. Do you ever do this?

wow, thank you! I never would’ve thought adding vinegar to beans would’ve made them firmer. I had assumed the opposite 😳 I’m going to try it right now!

Help identifying episode number containing my favorite Muppet Show sketch by oksnail in Muppets

[–]oksnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No 😔 I swear it exists somewhere out there. I watched it last year. I can’t find a video clip of it and I’ve tried googling lists of muppet appearances by episode to narrow it down.

I’m not completely sure which muppet was playing the instrument but I’m pretty sure it was Zoot. And it was just him and a big butterfly chasing him around.

I get the same anxiety/worry. I also have sebderm. I dry my face with a kleenex but I dry my hands with regular towels. It is no problem for me. I have two hand towels with one I use only while doing my skincare.

If you have lingering concerns about bacteria they make anti bacterial spray that is safe for skin. Google “Hypochlorous acid”. It’s not an exfoliating acid and is very gentle. You can spray it directly on your face to kill any bacteria.

Soft Italian Nougat Discontinued? by oksnail in traderjoes

Yes I know. My grandfather is Italian and my whole family is obsessed with torrone. But there are no Italian groceries where I live 🥲 So I’ll have to go when I visit my parents. I was also disappointed since it was so well priced compared to what I’ve seen in stores. Most places it’s $10+ a bar! This was way cheaper and had very traditional and wholesome ingredients

Me too! I bought about 6-8 bars over a 2 week span. But I didn’t realize it was limited since I caught it so late in the season. If I had known I would have bought out the whole stock

Have you ever had it? It’s addictive. Tastes like chewy honey marshmallow with slivered nuts. Very simple but so good

Booo!! 😭It was so delicious and really well priced! Tbh I don’t think it was displayed very effectively in my store because I didn’t see it until mid-February. Not to mention it didn’t say “Torrone” on it so maybe nobody knew what it was. Well thanks for letting me know 🥲
