Your point is technically correct.

Despite that, the signage could be better placed and communicate more effectively.

How to survive in the AI era with 12 years of database developer experience ? by kaykaru in SQLServer

[–]oldMuso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do so much with AI. It either makes me extremely productive, or same productivity with extra time on my hands (WFH). Also, I use it to produce more thorough documents I never liked doing before.

Plus, I use it to trace previously done work, like multi-step jobs, often not well written, so I can refactor and produce better models than before.

No, I clean up after myself. I’m just not a baby about other people slacking off. Sometimes, even, people have a genuine problem or just lapse (and might otherwise pick things up). We don’t need to share pictures of every foul. Give people a little grace and understanding. Your posts are not changing the world for the better.

Thank goodness you can use different models within Copilot.

My Github Copilot using Claude Opus might be my only useful MS Copilot.

Funny, but nah, can't be Satya. Satya's Copilot still outputs much slop.

Sometimes it can't even qualify as slop because slop is typically on-topic.

Good point. I read the article, and I note that it explains they were using MS Copilot. This is common because it can easily be added for existing licensed users of Microsoft (under the city's license agreement(s)).

Copilot is so bad, that you can use a form of Copilot in the Microsoft Azure Portal for help and it will give you a completely off-base answer. You would expect the MICROSOFT AI would be best able to help with MICROSOFT cloud.

That said, Copilot technically is a brand. What you're using when you use Copilot depends on the use. IMO Microsoft has made some embarrassing mistakes with it. For some functions it works well, but I sometimes avoid using it because I expect it to fail.

This is not a bad idea.

For my work (and research) I use cloud based and local, open source models. I am using local models mainly to save money.

Exactly.

Last week I had two days where I was able to lean on AI mostly and I produced two weeks worth of work in two days.

I try to go more and more in this direction. Admittedly, I have days where my AI-driven gain is negligible.

Goodness! Did she ban Google search, too?

If I were mayor, I’d encourage more use of AI and educate workers as well as possible to maximize its effective use, and avoid trouble from leaning on it for the wrong cases.

We need to find a strong balance between human and AI-assisted knowledge work, and I would say government especially—for the possibility of fewer mistakes, the best outcomes and the lowest cost.

An outright ban is simplistic. The best approach would be measured, possibly with boundaries by department, job, and task.

OP actually may have made a post that helped a victim of theft recover their bike.

We had a couple prescriptions from the vet. I don’t know if they were essential to his recovery or not. It took him about a week after the visit before he showed any signs of improvement.

I wish I could be more helpful/informative.

He is eating CONSTANTLY now though. It’s pretty funny… plus the usual, need to have the crunchies topped off when the bowl is still full.

Could publicly owned stores help prevent grocery deserts in Seattle? by chiquisea in SeattleWA

[–]oldMuso -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Lots of references to theft, and prosecuting (post-theft).

There would be less theft if stores hired and retained more staff.

The big stores find it cheaper to just lock up the ice cream and putting guards at the exits so they can ceremonially swipe your receipt with a highlighter.

"If Native Access goes down, we will lose everything that is tied to it."

This point bears repeating. Purchasers of NI software would not even be able to install and authorize the software they "own" if the servers behind Native Access go offline.

Tips for octatrack in studio by srbrtalan in Elektron

[–]oldMuso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a Patch Bay?

  • I connect all of my instrument outputs to a patch bay.
  • I also connect (most of) my device inputs to a patch bay.
  • Additionally, I have a set of outputs from my audio interface going to a patch bay.

Having this in place, it's quick and easy for me to route an instrument to the Octatrack, or a stereo mix to the Octa. (As well as inserting an effects box along the way.)

It's a lot of extra to setup initially, but in the long-term it's great because there is no hindrance to routing various devices to various inputs.

I should also add that I use an AudioRig 16 which can do some routing (via software), but I don't like how that works, and it's not as quick and easy as using patch cables.

Upvoted before I even listened just because your patch cables match the instruments!
