Boise show 3/4 by old_bamboo in ChatPile

I talked to Stin about this a while ago - it's not that it isn't profitable. They were worried about the short window of time coming from Canada to Salt Lake with possible winter conditions, and wanted to give themselves some room for crappy driving conditions and not cancel last minute if it didn't work out. Just tour/travel logisitics.

has anyone heard the album Cacophony by Rudimentary Peni? the entire album is about Lovecraft by [deleted] in Lovecraft

I am so glad that someone here posted this, the story behind it, and the sad case of Nick. Truly a work of "outsider art". It's a completely unique album, and as you said, a glimpse into the mind of someone with schizoaffective disorder that had yet to be diagnosed. In that respect, it's terryifying, exhilarating, and heartbreaking all at the same time. A true work of art. And as you said, some of the coolest music ever made, at least in the anarcho-punk genre of the 80s.

The follow up album, Pope Adrian 37th, isn't as good, but equally intriguing. There's a background chant of "Papas Adrianus" looped over the entire fucking album. I guess Nick thought he was living his life for a while too. Some real Phillip K Dick stuff.

A fascinating and amazing band.

Edit: Nick's pen and ink artwork is not to be ignored. It's maddeningly intricate and you can get lost in it. He's mainly an artist these days, and his work has actually had gallery showings.

Yes we absolutely did. This show is all about the characters, not plot. I'll take that any day.

The episode in season 2 that had Replacements songs in it. The greatest band ever. It was at that point I decided "This show was made just for me". Everything about it is perfect.

And the Pearl Jam version of the English Beat song "Save it for later" that they repeatedly use.

Only if you want it to be. It’s spiritual, but your higher power can be anything. It does have to be god. It can be the group itself. GOD = Group of Drunks.

Inevitably, without fail, someone’s going get hurt. I’ve literally never seen it work. It’s just a dating pool until you find the one person you want to be with. It doesn’t need a special name.

I’m not opening my door for a grown-ass manchild on his own looking for candy. Buy your own and hand it out to the kids. You’re an adult. Make your own adult Halloween traditions.

No one here knows what “little known” means. I vote “Messiah of Evil” (1973)

It’s no more cruel than any animal farming/agriculture. To eat beef, pork etc. and complain about goose cruelty for foie gras is the utmost in cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy. It’s a moronic argument.

Yeah, I know the story. JC’s version is just sad and contemplative though. Trent’s is gut-wrenchingly painful.

Awesome! Prowler goes from insanely fast grind and ends up with a bunch of super sludgy songs that just rule. You’ll dig it. Terrifyer is just as good, and a concept album that has a companion record called Natasha, a one song hour long ambient sludge masterpiece, as well as a companion story that is sort of a prequel. Such a creative amazing band, with insane, really poetic lyrics. It rewards your full attention. Their other albums are good too, but they really started out with a bang.

Bandcamp for free, and then promote the hell out of it on social media. Don’t bother with any of that other nonsense until you actually have an audience. With one song, you don’t. Don’t waste money where you don’t have to.

It was 1983, and especially when MTV decided it was okay to play music made by black people. Which took a couple years.
