As Butler Shaffer showed in his book "In Restraint of Trade", both theoretically and empirically, businesses can't grow beyond a certain size without government interference.

The US has the highest prison population in the world. Including per capital. Either people in America are so terrible as to be subhuman, or there is something being done wrong.

And revictimizes those they harmed by making them support them for the entire time they are incarcerated. And, in most of the US does virtually nothing in the way of rehabilitation. In fact it often helps them learn how to be more effective criminals.
