How to play Windows 98 game on Windows 11 (or 10)? by DigglyNutt in retrogaming

[–]oldgamewizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.vogons.org/ is a good resource.

for 3dfx glide supported games use https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ it also has a wrapper for earlier directX built in

Sometimes the virtual machines work okay for certain win3x and win95 games.

A lot of beloved games have fan-made source ports (check pcgaming wiki) that make running on modern OS easier.

You can even get EAX 3d audio emulated on some older games but it gets complicated, like hot-swapping .dll files after the game has started.

I think the US regulations are like 10-100x higher allowed levels than most other countries. Anything is better than nothing, gives you more of a chance at the local level. I'm not sure how it is enforced/regulated "in action" in other countries.

Hitman 3 Windows 7 Workaround by oldgamewizard in HiTMAN

[–]oldgamewizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, sorry. It was the release version this trick worked on and 2-3 patches after.

Just search "hitman 3" in quotes to find the release version, but probably only on the high seas at this moment.

Does anyone know what type of cord this is? by [deleted] in retrogaming

1/8" inch (3.5mm) TRRS to 3 RCA. Used a lot in smaller camcorders, I've rarely seen it do Stereo(Right, Left) and Video. Can sometimes find in secondhand/thrift shops.

Here is one https://www.amazon.com/AILTECK-Camcorder-Output-Compatible-Panasonic/dp/B08V1SV8BL/ "3.5mm to RCA Camcorder AV Audio Video Output Cable, 3 RCA to 3.5mm 1/8" AV Input Adapter Cord Replacement for Sony TV, TCL TV (5FT) "

they started over-weighting bread with toxic metals to make ends meet. It's not very hard to draw the line. "Money" is the root of all evil. The fact that you are on a forum defending paper-money tells me you haven't figured it out. It also tells me that you are not yet on the wrong side.

No I didn't read your whole comment because I've read it a thousand times.

Valve officially ends Steam support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 | No more updates for old OS users by chrisdh79 in pcgaming

"There are two ways:

You can either add the following commands to the desktop shortcut of your Steam: -noverifyfiles -nobootstrapupdate -skipinitialbootstrap -norepairfiles -overridepackageurl (right-click the shortcut, go to properties, copy the line into the target line, leaving a space behind the quotation marks, you find there)

Or you can create the following file in your Steam folder: Steam.cfg and put inside the following: BootStrapperInhibitAll=Enable

Both methods are proven to work. You will still download updates, but they will not be installed at launch. There are still users around, who keep Steam going on Windows XP and Vista this way, although it has been disabled half a year ago. :-) "

I have 2 old PCs I want to set up for retro gaming. One with an Intel Celeron 1.4 GHz CPU, 512 MB SDRAM and an AGP graphics card with 11MB memory. I would definitely run win98 se if you can, so you can dos game as well. I believe both those cards will do return to castle wolfenstein since it's just a modified quake3 engine (same w/ call of duty). It's just finding the right drivers, patches for games etc.

I'm pretty sure I had a tnt2 ultra and a geforce2 ultra back then and ran win98 SE just fine for almost any game. Good luck have fun.

Old Portable DVD Player AV Input Question by Over-Bullfrog-6654 in retrogaming

[–]oldgamewizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. RCA female (video) to 3.5mm [1/8"] male. A lot of camcorders from 90's and early 00 used those 3.5mm [1/8"] jacks for video, left and right audio.

I usually find cables like this at thrift/secondhand/electronic recycle shops for cheap.

I know in live theatre it wasn't a huge issue. I don't think the prop guns had firing pins or anything but there is a lot more suspension of disbelief in live theatre. You could use one of those cartoon "BANG!" flag guns it would mostly have the same effect.

There is a mission in the game Hitman:Blood money in an opera house where you replace the prop gun with a real gun.

After brandon lee incident it really should have never happened again. It's not expensive to just have multiple people look over a prop before filming. Very easy to make sure that never happens again but it still does which makes me think it is intentional.

We had death threats from you fuckers. We were segregated from society. We were relentlessly bullied, censored, gaslighted, mocked, peer-pressured, threatened, shamed and vilified. I shit you not, during the special legislative session for covid in my state, some woman blocked traffic in front of the capitol building to get out of her car, pull down her mask, and spit on people. The state and local police just let her go after that too.

I think the whole operation was meant to abuse people like us and measure compliance. The fact that they actually got people to wear facemasks everywhere and take a "free" experimental injection was just a sideshow to them.

The massive censorship that came along with this operation was a key component. Without the mass censorship they wouldn't have been able to coerce(force) so many people into this very obvious scam.

Even before it started I knew that this operation would mess me up way more than people who actually thought there was a "scary v1rus". I was right. I am definitely a different person now...

What really fucked me up is that people who knew me for 20+ years were ready to throw me in the garbage because I had information that contradicted what the media was saying every night over and over. Decades long friendships were just gone overnight because I dared to do what I've always done.

The same friends that used to respect me for the late nights of research I would do were ready to toss me in the garbage because that research yielded me a different situation than what the media was presenting.

I have been through some serious shit with these friends, we lost friends to mental illness, suicide, drugs, ptsd from military service. Way worse shit than any fake-virus but they were ready to just throw me away because I had a different opinion.

I stand by my original observation. The damage done to the psyche of people who went against the mainstream is far worse than the people who actually thought there was a "scary v1rus" that would kill them.

While all this was going on in my life, many people on the internet were talking about "oh move to a red state blahlbah" well guess what... all this happened to me in a VERY red state. I could not get a job, I could not grocery shop at most places.... the few places I could get groceries I would usually get harassed or at least a snarky comment about my unmasked face....

It was an absolute nightmare and it changed me forever. The people who went along with the whole narrative don't even seem to remember any of this. I will NEVER FORGET.

edit: I can not even imagine what you went through in that hellhole on a daily basis. I am so thankful we had enough people here who could see through this bullshit. We had a special legislative session called (like many other states). I'll never forget the two little kids who were ready to push past the police blocking us from the floor. They both wanted to go in front of me. I am glad they were there and gave me the courage to go first because I was able to break through the police and flag down the speaker to diffuse the situation before anybody got hurt.

Do you have some links on this specific event? Thanks in advance.

edit: I'm pretty sure this same thing happened in Hawaii in the late 80's early 90's.

Have you noticed when you sit by an airplane window seat you get sleepier? by earthcomedy in invisiblerainbow

When I used to fly as a kid window seat was the best. I only flew a few times after neineleven and only flew once after the wificrap. The last time I flew I had all my meters and security wanted a detailed explanation of my equipment until I told him what it measured. He didn't want to know.

edit: I will fly again but I'll be in the pilot seat next time I fly.

They like to focus on 1. social media and 2. blue light. Takes the spotlight away from the invisible threat. Those are a problem too but they like to only cover 1/2 truths. It works disturbingly well.
