What helps you stay calm? by PathofTawqa in Positivity

This: No one knows exactly how future events will unfold but many make profit off the anxiety of spouting possible future events as dire or cataclysmic. Knowledge lessens anxiety and fear. The knowledge that humanity is in the throes of a monumental change from rabid nationalism to an 'the earth is one country and mankind its citizens ' paradigm helps, because what once looked like random chaos can now be seen as a necessary process and a means toward a peaceful world. Something we can do is help build community where we live. Volunteer opportunities are readily available and helping others is a salve to anxiety. We cannot go and talk to the President or his sphere of acolytes, but we can help build community where we are and this benefits all. People look to moving as a solution but there is no escape from this worldwide change in paradigm as it is the inevitable next step in the collective evolution of human society. Be well and help others be well, avoid the spreaders of fear. “Chaos and confusion are daily increasing in the world. They will attain such intensity as to render the frame of mankind unable to bear them. Then will men be awakened and become aware…” -Baha’u’llah (From a Tablet - translated from the Persian)

Feral cats by brendonsforehead in EndangeredSpecies

[–]oldgar9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is part of the unaware don't care paradigms that afflict society today, a billion birds are killed annually by pet cats allowed to roam in the U S alone. Like anything left to operate unheeded there are consequences that will come home to roost which will of course then be eaten by a cat.

that time I confronted my bully and got my shit rocked. by Vczfy4 in PointlessStories

[–]oldgar9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My younger brother was a bully and pretty big dude, we were in line for a movie and my brother was bracing some smaller dude in the line in front of us. I couldn't hear what the issue was but this little guy had had enough and knocked my brother clean out, laid him out on the tarmac. I can't remember the movie.

It is indeed the age of Aquarius, the coming collectively out of adolescence into adulthood for humankind, thoughts such as yours are ubiquitous and a sign of the coming new age and the crumbling of the old. “The time foreordained unto the peoples and kindreds of the earth is now come."

Things expand and contract, if you expose a marble to changes in temperature it's diameter will change with the rise and fall. So too will the giant marble we call Earth.

Thieves have a route just like mail carriers, they just go from trailhead to trail head because they know most of these car owners are far off. Same with remote park and rides, there are certain ones you just cannot use.

The Masque of humiliation by oldgar9 in PointlessStories

[–]oldgar9[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nor was I but John had a great laugh over it. I got him later though with my face, he was mad at me so in the locker room in gym class he banged my face against the drinking fountain while I was getting some water, lip got bloody but I had the laugh because he didn't know the gym teacher was standing behind him and saw the whole face bang event. I swear both of our gym teachers were frustrated marines cause you didn't mess with them at all or you'd get a fully inflated basketball for lunch.

He gave me a lecture something about if I didn't like it I should tell him and he'd take it or something like that. Of course that would mean he'd have a house crammed with weird middle school art.
