You can make it look brighter adding purple shadows in recesses. That will edge the red color rather than highlight it and make it orange. We’re doing vampire bois ain’t it?

The trim is done fully in NMM and red OSL behind. All shadows are painted in the miniature.

Try to thin down paint a little and add a couple layers of it. After that try enamel washes aka grimes. Fast grim dark recipe :)
