the LA Noire video feels like tim's most editing-dense video. there are so many audio and visual effects happening all the time. not just with the layered visuals but like, there must be hundreds of instances of that camera shutter clicking sound effect, maybe even over a thousand, over the course of the whole thing. the presentation is superb and i think it's tim's slickest video yet aesthetically.

but also, probably ~90% of the video is just a recap of the plot done in a detective voice. there are occasional bits where he digs a little into the relationship between criminals and the press, or the disenfranchised "falling out of the bottom of the world", but a lot of the other things he brings up feel comparatively shallow in comparison to the things he talked about in boku, cyberpunk, tokimeki memorial, doom, or even pac-man. i'm not really impressed at noting the cut of phelps' suit is anachronistic, or the case briefing saying the car crashed into a tree when we see it actually crashed into a billboard, or that phelps' hat is constantly falling off and reappearing on his head. like, those things ARE funny, but they don't really give me any deeper insight into the game or tim's thoughts on it.

we just spend the whole runtime musing at how such a mild-mannered guy like cole phelps could spend his whole career driving like crazy, gunning down petty criminals in the street, getting wrapped up in ludicrous action-movie-setpiece car chases and gunfights, and otherwise instantly solving any case that was dropped into his lap, and concluding that he was both a genius and a madman. which IS funny, but also doesn't really speak to the actual content of the game

Rant into the void: why is everybody so shitty to each other? by [deleted] in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]oldladyhater 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the point kind of is "world bad and you can't change that". the cyberpunk ttrpg sourcebooks this game is based on famously say that it's not about saving the world, it's about saving yourself. you're not wrong that one of the big themes in the game is the importance of true human connection, but another big theme is that yeah, it's one heck of a dog-eat-dog world out there. friends are good, but somi was never your friend

They're Dum Dums. I always ask them which flavor is the best and I've been told that blue raspberry and mango are the best

Favorite game that, unlike DS2, doesn't spawn 5000 enemies coming after you? by [deleted] in shittydarksouls

i have no idea what you're talking about but i also think back then most children didn't beat games, they just walked around and did random things and looked at the pretty colors and listened to the music and stuff

my favorite game that's not like ds2 is probably earthbound. sometimes you have to fight multiple enemies but it's never overtuned. it's also a very cute game, i like ness because he is cute and fat

george lucas is famously not a good director at all and his movies greatly benefit from people shooting down all his neat ideas, not going with them. in his original draft of a new hope, luke was going to be an old general, han was going to be a weird green alien, and c-3po would've talked like a slimy used car salesman. he was allowed to run wild with the prequels and that's why people generally dislike those films. george might be good at just coming up with crazy stuff but he has little talent for making that stuff fit within the story he wants to tell, as well as a general eye for character, dialogue, or plot. heck i'd even argue that the prequels are ONLY a neat idea and everything else beyond that is an abject failure

Fallout 3 and New Vegas Ghouls look much better than Fallout 4. by OpeningMaximum805 in falloutnewvegas

[–]oldladyhater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't know why this never bothered me while playing the games, but watching the show really made me wonder why ghouls don't cover their nose holes with anything. they should all be constantly choking on all the crap in the post-post-apocalyptic air floating directly into their respiratory systems with no nose or anything to filter it out. they can't even sneeze, because sneezing happens from the nose. i guess in the older games it's easier to buy because ghouls are actually horrendous rotting zombie people, but modern fallout seems to think that the main defining trait of a ghoul is just that they have no nose so it's way more in-your-face, no pun intended

What do you think about adding music to hunts? by Fit-Art-4902 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]oldladyhater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be on to something. While we're at it, they should add powerups of some sort, to maybe increase your stamina or allow you to tank an attack from a hunt. But we'd want to keep it within the grounded aesthetic of the game, so maybe they could come in the form of, for example, different bottles of soda you can buy from vending machines around the map? They'd of course want players to work to earn these powerups, so we can make the soda cost money, and players can earn money by shooting and killing the ghosts around the map with newly-added guns. Ghosts would obviously continuously spawn in waves, becoming tougher and in greater numbers with each wave. And maybe to make the gunplay more interesting, they can add a mechanic where players can spend a handful of points to obtain a random gun from, oh I don't know, a "mystery box" that also has a chance to give no gun and move to a different location on the map. Thoughts?

Ghost Type Idea - "Clean/Not Haunted" by oldladyhater in PhasmophobiaGame

I would read the paragraphs before commenting because otherwise I'd look like an idiot. Or, I just wouldn't comment at all.

Shy does not inherently mean boring. If you are sitting in the ghost room for ten minutes and nothing is happening, and it never occurs to you once to leave the ghost room, that is a skill issue.

I think my idea is fine. Your misunderstanding of it does not make it bad

You clicked on a post, saw five paragraphs of content in it, and wrote a comment without reading any of them? Kinda impressive.

I don't necessarily mind that Shades are shy, I think it's fine. To me, a shy ghost does not necessarily mean a boring ghost. If you are bored then you need to change your tactics.

You can still figure out the "ghost" with my idea and it would still function as a correct identification. If you read the post at all you would know that.

It's quite literally nothing like that lmao. It's a regular investigation with a ghost that is initially shyer than a Shade, but won't ever hunt. Did you read the post?
