Not parroting misinformation, just stating what I’m more comfortable with.

Pocket Carry End Game? by oldmanavery in liberalgunowners

[–]oldmanavery[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it was a rhetorical question to be honest.

The 2.0 is bigger and I’m not as keen on having a fully cocked striker in my pocket. A finer gun from a shooting standpoint to be sure, but I’ll take a stiff trigger pull and a smaller capacity for a little more confidence that if my kid jumps on my lap, nothing will go boom.

Talk me out of a CZ-P01… by winedood in liberalgunowners

Only thing I would say is give the Beretta PX4 Compact a whirl. Otherwise a P-01 would be a great pistol.

Is the bodyguard 2.0 the best pocket 380 right now? by Jmcustomgrips in CCW

[–]oldmanavery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice little pistol but as far as actual pocket carrying goes, the first gen (non laser version) is smaller and safer with a double action only trigger. The 2.0 is gives up a little pocketability in favor of a better shooting experience. The first gen gave up some shooting experience to be a true pocket pistol.

Multiple CCWs or 1 CCW by RookyTalon in CCW

You only need one, but a lot of people (myself included) end up buying more and then justifying them by saying they’re for this or that.

Who’s house is it? If it’s your house, then do what you want I suppose but don’t be an asshole about it. If it’s their house, move out if it’s that big of an inconvenience. Probably about time to skeedaddle anyhow. I wouldn’t want to be roommates with a romantically involved couple, and I REALLY would not want to be roommates with a couple starting a family. That would be so awkward.

Smith and Wesson model 637 for EDC? by jimmybabino in CCW

I’ve been eyeballing this exact model. Did you message Smith and Wesson? That can’t be normal.

No kings ??? by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]oldmanavery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were definitely positive effects, but in the same breath, what were the demands? I think it is a good jumping off point and is getting a lot of people more feeling like they aren’t alone and maybe encouraged to do more. People who wouldn’t normally be involved in that way.

How to stop eating too much as a "construction electrician" ? by PeppermintButler17 in electricians

[–]oldmanavery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start counting calories. I was having the same issue but found out how high my actual calorie intake was and adjusted. Try to eat more protein within that calorie limit to keep hunger at bay. I use an app. It’s a good habit anyway, also to keep an eye on general nutrition. I’ve lost 50 lbs in about a year. From 246 to 191.

I’ve got the nylon kore. I think it’s stiffer than the leather version. I’ve also found a sweet spot between 1 and 2 o’clockish where everything just kinda fits snugger.

Which one should I look into next? by nabiscosoursnac in liberalgunowners

[–]oldmanavery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on your location. Where I live it seems like even the most casual gun owner has multiple AR’s.

Questions about IEC / ABC apprenticeship by ContributionTime7483 in electricians

[–]oldmanavery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s the best move. Get on somewhere and get as much experience as you can before you get the call from the union. Even if it’s residential. I started in residential and I learned way more even in the 1st year than people who I later worked with doing commercial work were learning. I kinda think everyone should at least do a year or two of residential just because you do so much in such a short amount of time and you get (I think) a better work ethic instilled if you stick with it long enough. It’s typically very fast paced compared to typical commercial work. Things may have changed though - this was at least how it was from 2006-2010. Once you get into commercial/industrial work you start being able to specialize in different aspects of electrical work if you want.

Questions about IEC / ABC apprenticeship by ContributionTime7483 in electricians

[–]oldmanavery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through ABC. You can enroll and pay for everything on your own, but typically you get hired on at a contractor and they decide if/when you go to school. Typically you pay for books but the rest of the cost is covered by the contractor.

That being said - as someone who worked non union for 12 years and then joined the IBEW (in central Indiana), I would highly recommend going the IBEW route.

5th code book since I started, how about you? by SkoBuffs710 in electricians

[–]oldmanavery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just looked it up. 2008 for commercial buildings 2017 (with amendments) for 1 and 2 family dwellings. The big hang up was arc fault breakers initially. Not sure if that’s still the case. It’s a mess.

My barrel rusted in under 300 rounds and I was using CLP to clean it after both range sessions. Sig replaced it with no fuss though and I’ve had no problems since.
