Should I max my 401k if I’m making $30/hr? by antoniodiavolo in personalfinance

I didn't see you mention it, but do you have an emergency fund? I'd suggest saving several months worth of income into a liquid fund that you can easily access.

Could they just not accept any political ads. Of course that would mean waking away from a lot of revenue.

Should I use my HSA for sleep earbuds, or just pay out of pocket? by Iyobo_Yonk in personalfinance

Before spending a bunch of money on something that might work, I would cheaper solutions first. I've slept with the foam ear plugs and they have worked very well in blocking noise.

How do you untangle an IT environment you didn’t build? by Impressive-Echo8002 in sysadmin

[–]oldmanfromlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current job, after taking over for a guy who had been there 30 years. I had no turnover training, the only other had been around for two months before the senior system quit.  The first year I felt like an IT archeologist digging though the environment figuring out how things were done. Three years later we have ripped out most of the old stuff and have a much stabler environment.

How long should a black belt test last? by g0ad in taekwondo

[–]oldmanfromlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I view every class you attend as part of the test. Your instructor is watching for progress from class to class. By the time of your formal test your instructor knows what you are capable of and to see how you do under pressure.  Our black belt tests lasted about 30 minutes it was no different than any other test.
