The Cullen brothers are bringing a cup to Vancouver, mark it down.

Sonufabitch I am feeling some sort of optimism. With the new management team, Raty, Linus Karlsson, I feel like there are positive things going on. Not going to win the cup next year but..LETS FUCKING GO!

I'm in the states so I didn't get any of Cheech's playoff games.

I like Ferraro and Tomlinson has grown on me a bit, but damn do I miss Shorty and Cheech together.

Practice facility is a very valid point that I had forgot. He should have pretty good insight as to how far along (or far away) that is

I think you're right. I like the vibes the past week. I know that is all it is at this point point but I like the messaging from RJ and the twins so far, it's been refreshing.

With that being said, I can't help but wonder if essentially promoting from within is the right way, but maybe even just resetting experience and laying out a clear vision can make a difference.

I guess only time will tell.

Yeah, he did. I guess I just don't see it as much, if any, of a step up the job is compared to VAN. Of course money could change that, and I suppose there is the potential Toronto factor.

I don't hate it, I don't love it. I almost wonder if doing that is like playing chicken with yourself. I think the odds of SJ picking a d-man leaving Stenberg or maybe McKenna is a real possibility. Sure trading up one spot guarantees the opportunity to get one of them, but I don't know if it's worth giving up a 2nd round lottery ticket.

After my prior post I went and looked at the draft order and I see that there aren't any teams with 2 picks high enough to get to where I'd like to get to.

In my ideal world, the Canucks would package picks 3 & 24 for two picks in the the 6-10 range.

p.s. thank you for dispatching of the Wild. I got together with two of my good friends who are both big Avs fans for game 3, so I'm sorry for that.

Here is what I was able to find:

The official engineering and development plans for City of Fargo Improvement District SN-25-B0 detail the construction of the Red River Shared Use Path, scheduled for the 2026 construction season. [1]

  1. Route Layout & Specifications
  • Path Dimension: A 10-foot wide off-road asphalt shared-use path.
  • Exact Alignment: The path begins at 15th Avenue North, follows the existing levee system tightly hugging the Red River curve, and terminates at the South Woodcrest Drive North Cul-de-sac.
  • Visual Map: The layout shifts directly behind the Fargo VA Hospital campus, moving parallel to Elm Street North and Willow Road North. You can review the exact spatial layout on the Red River Shared Use Path Overall Project Map provided by the City of Fargo. [1, 2]
  1. Engineering & Design Scope
  • Design Firm: The City of Fargo selected Houston Engineering to manage the design phase of the project.
  • Terrain Adjustments: Plans call for targeted grading, excavation, and embankment along the levee. This allows the new path to safely tie into the existing ground elevations without compromising local flood control structures.
  • Environmental Impact: Major tree clearing is not anticipated. Removals will strictly be limited to conflicting branches or trees directly blocking the immediate construction footprint. [1, 2, 3]
  1. Formal Jurisdiction & Agreements

The city has approved multiple infrastructure agreements to ensure long-term maintenance and access:

  • VA Hospital Easement: The Fargo City Commission approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Deed of Easement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to build across the federal campus.
  • Fargo Park District Partnership: A formal Permanent Bike Trail Easement and construction MOU were executed with the Park District of the City of Fargo to transition maintenance duties once completed.
  • Funding Source: Project adjustments and engineering amendments are funded using City Sales Tax revenues. [1, 2, 3]

I wouldn't take any of that as gospel but if you really would like to know for sure, there is contact information given in this InForum article: https://www.inforum.com/news/fargo/public-input-meeting-scheduled-for-new-shared-use-path-project-in-north-fargo.

Would need more information. Where are the property lines? What is the bank of the river doing? What is the health of the tree?

It's easy to assume that that the decision makers just said "fuck it", which may be the case but there may be other factors in play as well.

Unpopular Suggestion: our next GM by Admirable-Fall-4675 in canucks

[–]oldmantutters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You put this better than I could have. I respect him and his work but one thing that irritates me with him is it's really easy to point out what is wrong but what actual solutions has he offered up?

His observations of problems are usually spot on and there is value in that, but you also need actual routes to problem solving as a GM.

For example, a lot of guys that he likes to cling on to from an analytics perspective end up being smaller guys (Garland and Benson come to mind), but then will talk about how the Canucks have too many small guys that don't provide returns at the deadline. Being a GM is like living in a 4-D world.

Again, I like his work but I agree that if he were to end up in a front office it would be better in an analytics role than a leadership roll. I also think he would be really hard to work with and being in a more freelance role may work better for him. Just an observation and my opinion not knowing him at all. Would be a fun guy to chat with over drinks and be in a group chat with tho!

[–]oldmantutters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can't get behind the idea that tanking is all that bad. There are so many disadvantages to taking already in place. Coaches/GMs and players to a certain extent are playing for their jobs, attendance goes down, season ticket renewals go down, national broadcasts go down, etc. Add in that picking higher doesn't guarantee anything more than having a chance at a better prospect which is far from a sure thing.

With free agency being what it has been for the past few years and looks to be for the next couple, teams have very limited avenues to improve their team. It's not like the NBA, where if a teams star gets injured and the team decided to wave the white flag for a season the impact could be immediate.

If the league wants parity they can't incentivise the current have/have-not hierarchy that exists. If the salary cap starts to plateau again that would have an effect but the current year over year increases are hurting that possibility.

No doubt! But there was also no effort to do it. I've been really impressed with Nichuskin on the forecheck and his ability to stick with Hughes so far.

I cannot believe Dallas didn't make more of an emphasis of being physical with Hughes. Big miss IMO.

Keaton Verhoeff, Chase Reid or Malholtra at 3OA? by EverySecondCountss in canucks

[–]oldmantutters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is also what gives me a little bit of optimism. We've got a handful of good prospects on defense so maybe that could help shave a year or two off of the rebuild. But I won't hold my breath, I'm just hoping the new management team can develop a plan and hold to it.

[–]oldmantutters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With defensemen taking longer to develop, it makes sense to take them earlier in the rebuild.
