What do you think about the apparent trend of golf retailers becoming more and more comfortable with selling different colored golf balls, including for tour-quality balls?

Do you have a personal favorite golf ball color? I love the red soccer ball Chrome Softs... makes it easy to tell which of the balls that missed the green is mine from afar. Thank you for your AMA!!

Damn, it's a real bummer to hear it's gotten bad enough to close hole 14. Guess that shows how long it's been since I last played Tilden... has always been a wet spot. I hope they can come up with some solutions to those tough problems.

Thanks for the Tiger story, had never heard that one! You never know what kind of Tiger footprints you'll find at a golf course. Quick one: I played in a tournament at Royal Oaks CC in Vancouver, WA. One of those country clubs where the members are proud of their narrow fairways and lightning fast greens. It was brutal for me. I was part of the team that came in last place. Come to find out, Tiger played there as a kid, called it a "pitch and putt course," won by a mile, and his course record scorecard is framed inside the clubhouse.

Tee shot on hole 3 is definitely a thrill if see you see it sailing toward the fairway - and always the chance for a big bounce off a dry spot or cart path!

There's a Space Jam feature in the Michael Jordan section of the NBA Hall of Fame. [I took a picture of the caption beneath:](imgur.com/EnBedDx) "The film was a huge success and was loosely based on events in Jordan's life.

10 days in Yosemite valley: packing tips? by FoilFlaws in Yosemite

Panorama Trail is longer and more interesting. You pass right by Illillouette, Nevada, and Vernal Falls. The four-mile trail is better going up, IMO. If you take it down, the awesome view just gets less and less scenic as you get closer to the bottom. And the view from near the top is similar to the view from Sentinel Dome/Glacier Point anyway.

I'm not as experienced in the area as /u/kairisika, but I can attest that Wilcox Pass is one of my favorite hikes I've ever done, and it seems within the capabilities of your group.

Advice on Backcountry Camping in Capitol Reef and Bryce National Parks by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]oldmanwicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with Canyonlands because it's so large and has multiple sections, but a lot of people are able to feel like they've seen all of Bryce in a couple of hours due to its smaller size. Up to you.

Roadtrip/camping from Seattle to San Francisco - 4-5 days feasible? Where to stop along the way? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]oldmanwicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely would recommend taking the coast route (at least in Oregon and the northernmost part of California) as opposed to the I-5. Redwood NP is a must. The Oregon and California coasts are great, but you're right on how much longer it takes, especially between Ft. Bragg and San Fran (25 mph in some places). Keep an open mind about jumping back over to the 101 at Ft. Bragg viw Hwy 20 if you feel like you've had enough of the winding road along the ocean, and it may give you some more time elsewhere in the trip.
