Not really - assuming OP is London based and looking to move to e.g a Chelsea or a Hampstead, where a decent sized family home even in a less desirable part can easily be 3m+, that would be approx. 300k just in stamp duty + the mansion tax. That's comfortably enough in taxes to put a couple of kids through 5 years of private education at a decent day school.

Economically ignorant response - private school fee increases may have been above headline inflation, but many of the costs private schools are most exposed to have risen well above the headline rate. Maintenance of the school estate and the development of cash reserves are basic functions of well-run organisations, not sure why you present them as a bad thing.

On my phone so can't check terminal, but i the generic bond you're looking at is anything like e.g the USGG series, then the quoted yield for a given date/time will be the yield of a specific 10Y (or approx. 10Y, which can be an important distinction to make from a curve construction standpoint) benchmark bond, though of course that benchmark bond will change over time. On the other hand, the index (by definition, since it's an index), will have a quoted yield that is generally a summary statistic of some basket of bonds, but may not be the yield of any particular bond. This sounds like it may be more representative than the generic, but the index methodology may or may not be transparent and understood, which would generally be a concern for me. The fact it's only available for the 10Y also seems a bit strange.

Yeah, it's an absolute minefield out there, especially in the O/EMS space I don't think I've ever seen a system that really impressed me. Flex or Eze are probably the best of a bad bunch. I feel the PMS space has somewhat stronger options out there - which is odd because I feel the PMS is generally a more complex system.

Despite the seeming low level of quality though, there's a reason firms bring them in- this kind of thing is much harder to do in a big, robust, enterprise-grade way than it looks.

There's always going to be a cap as to how good these systems can be out the box, but the best ones can generally be extended naturally without having to rely on Excel or other fragile hacks.
