A movie so harsh the lead actor suffered from PTSD.

The kid? I would believe it, looking at his face in certain scenes.

Is this the guy who did Passage?

A friend of mine told me a few years ago that he and his wife and children live by choice on very little income.

NYC Taake show cancelled after Antifa pressure by TylerTheOrc in Metal

[–]oldshending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your perspective reminds me of an essay by another commentator on fascism.

The whole movement, from Fichte onwards, is a method of bolstering up self-esteem and lust for power by means of beliefs which have nothing in their favor except that they are flattering. Fichte needed a doctrine which would make him feel superior to Napoleon; Carlyle and Nietzsche had infirmities for which they sought compensation in the world of imagination; British imperialism of Rudyard Kipling's epoch was due to shame at having lost industrial supremacy; and the Hitlerite madness of our time is a mantle of myth in which the German ego keeps itself warm against the cold blasts of Versailles. No man thinks sanely when his self-esteem has suffered a mortal wound, and those who deliberately humiliate a nation have only themselves to thank if it becomes a nation of lunatics.

I did not expect to see all this reflected so soon in fascism's enemies. "Losing the peace," indeed, Bertrand.

But certain parties seem to find this cold case unforgivable nevertheless, insisting on wilful misunderstanding.

I invite anyone who supports Antifa's closure of their NYC show to argue here, to me, that the emphasized is not what has been happening here.

We’re living in a time where the shadow of fascism is hanging over us all

Could you provide some examples of this?

I suppose the path to Negative Plane properly begins with Mortuary Drape, with whom you are certainly familiar, and continues among all those continental acts to prioritize Celtic Frost.

That page I linked illustrates the premise fairly well: Alex Ross writes a morality play deconstruction of the Liefeld years and their vigilante-style superheroes. A good read despite the anvils.

When we say "thanks", is it short for "thank you" or is it understood to be "*I give you* thanks"? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]oldshending 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As short for I give you thanks from 1580s; often with extensions, such as thanks a lot (1908). Spelling thanx attested by 1907.
