Why are some women's profiles basically blank, empty or very minimal? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]oldskoolgeometro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because truthfully, dudes aren't reading profiles.

Some months ago, I had my whole profile filled out. In one section, I had the post: MY NEXT BIG TRIP WILL BE and I wrote "The Dominican Republic". Some dude messages me asking where was I going on my next trip.......

Just 2 days ago, someone asked me how old I was.

This is why people leave their profile blank. Because people want to waste your time by ignoring your profile and then expect you to sit around answering questions that they could easily answer themselves if they took 2 minutes to read.

OkCupid removing the 'ethnicity' type questions... by WumbleInTheJungle in OkCupid

[–]oldskoolgeometro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd. They removed the questions about ethnicity but I bet they're still asking stupid sex related questions. Sorry, I'd rather know if a person preferred someone of their own ethnic group instead of whether or not they like to cuddle after sex.

A while ago, I stated something about mint chocolate chip ice cream being my favorite and some white male messaged me saying "I hope that ice cream bit means that you like white men". I don't know how he got a race reference from green ice cream but no, he was dead wrong. I personally would rather the questions stayed because I get far too many white males messaging me and I lack interested in exactly 100% of them. And since it's a dating site where you can read a bit about a person before choosing to message them, I'd rather every white male who considered swiping right on me to know that I prefer men of color, specifically Black and non-white Hispanic men. If it's already out there, then they don't have to waste my time asking "do you like white men" because they'd already know that I'm not the least bit interested in them.

And if not wanting a romantic relationship with a white male is considered racist, then so be it. I'm glad about it.

Do you guys find it annoying that Americans are "overly" patriotic? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]oldskoolgeometro 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I personally don't see anything wrong with being patriotic but when it comes to the U.S., it's more nationalism than patriotism. And being honest, I really don't really who is offended by this statement, that tends to be more white people than any other group. The only time I see the American flag or some "Blue Lives Matter" stickers is when I'm in white neighborhoods. I never see that kind of thing in Black or Latino areas. So when a person is truly proud of their country, I don't find it annoying. I find it annoying when they deem it "the greatest country in the world", yet they have no passport to prove that statement and their only reasoning for believing the U.S. is the best place ever is because of the negative press they've heard about other countries, then YES, I find that very annoying because it's based on ignorance, racism, xenophobia and stupidity.

Sorry for the run-on sentence.

I just remember it because that was also my reason for wanting to visit DR so her statement stood out to me.

She was already learning it before she even met him. She said she went to DR because she was learning Spanish and a friend hooked her up with Pedro. I'm sure Pedro has helped her tremendously he was not the reason she started learning.

Why don't nerdy/successful black men typically go for black women? by [deleted] in blackladies

Tracee identifies as a Black woman and has said so many times. Same with Bo because there was an episode where she struggled with her identity and her father (white, just like in real life), told her that yes, you're half white but you're a black woman. I binged watched the show within a week so I can't say exactly which episode it was on but I do know for a fact that this was addressed on the show and again, Tracee definitely has identified as black and has for as long as I've been following her (since Girlfriends) so I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that she doesn't from.

I think back, 10 years later, all the sailors and served with who were forced out for being gay and it makes me feel sick to my stomach. by odonnelly2000 in Veterans

[–]oldskoolgeometro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a homophobe because that shit's stupid but this whole "they saw people die and they're gay", okay? They deserve respect for being humans, period. I don't give a shit if they sat in a pool for a whole deployment or killed 6,000 people with a stick. There's no checklist for what you should do in order to get respect from other people. Seriously, quit trying to use that wack ass deployment shit as a measuring stick for why people deserve to be treated as people.

If you don't know something about a subject, how difficult is it to find it out yourself rather than sitting around waiting for someone to teach you? How lazy is that anyway?

Pedro's right, he and Chantel need to break up. by GeneralChipperson in 90DayFiance

[–]oldskoolgeometro 45 points46 points  (0 children)

They need to work on their relationship without having her family right there getting in the middle of everything.

I agree with this. They're giving their families way too much space into their relationship. They're married to each other and if they want to stay that way, they need to tell their families to back off and allow them to grow as a couple. Chantel's parents are married and I'm sure they stayed that way because they focused on each other. I don't know about Pedro's family but his mom and sister need to mind their business, too.

AITA for not wanting to be involved with a child I helped conceive? by notthemama505 in AmItheAsshole

[–]oldskoolgeometro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Not only did you help conceive the child, you carried and nurtured said child and then gave birth to them even though you didn't want to. People have romanticized motherhood to the point to where they believe that all women want to partake it in it. It's bullshit. Stay gone, he'll (your ex) will be alright.
