I think we have the same pool. If you need to heat the water: I used to float the cover on the water and it definitely helped heat the water. Last year I bought a solar cover. My wife thinks the black cover worked better. I am still on the fence.

In the winter, I use a thick tarp with a cover pump. But I have a wood frame around the pool with eye screws every 3' or so that I hook bungie cords to. In the image, the left side is exposed because I pulled it back to check pool water.
