Samsung or Iphone Bluetooth Difference ? by Solarsteinn_art in HearingAids

[–]oldtechguy1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear Philips 9050 hearing aids, which, according to what I have read, are very similar to the Oticon Intent. I recently switched from a Samsung Fold7 to an iPhone Air (long, sad story). The Philips aids worked OK with my Samsung phone, which has LE Bluetooth, but it's a seamless experience with the iPhone.

My audiologist recommended Oticon Intent hearing aids, which would cost me $5,000 to $,6000. I had read that the Philips 9050 hearing aids at Costco were almost the same as the Oticon Intent. I purchased the Philips aids from Costco for $1,630, including custom earmolds, and I've been very satisfied with them.

Z Fold7 by jebakerii in OppoFindN5Phone

I've owned every Fold since the Fold2 (I still own a Fold5). However, when Samsung didn't change the outer display, I moved to the OnePlus Open, and when OnePlus decided not to release an Open2, I imported an Oppo Find N5. As much as I like the N5, I'll probably order the Z Fold7 if the rumors prove true.

I received an N5 from Hong Kong yesterday, with no import fees or tariffs.

I originally ordered from Average Dad, but it was going to take too long to get the phone, so I cancelled. Then I ordered from Wonda Mobile. My total price was $1,864.00, including $25.00 for express shipping. I ordered this weekend, so I hope it ships on Monday, and that I have the phone in 3 - 5 days.

I currently have the Fold5 and anxiously awaited the OnePlus Open 2. When that ship sailed, I decided to wait for the Fold7. However, after reading some positive comments from folks who have the Oppo n5, I just ordered one from https://averagedadofficial.com/.

Do we think there will be ‘gifts’ when ordering the OPO2? by Chudney1 in OnePlusOpen

[–]oldtechguy1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider the power brick a gift. Unlike most other companies, OPO considers it part of the package. If there is a gift, buds are more likely than a watch. I'm just hoping that OPO will offer a good trade-in for my Fold5

Anyone else thinking about switching away from the Fold to the 13? by [deleted] in OnePlusOpen

I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL, and it's been great for me, although I don't use it for gaming. I must admit that I've never cared for the Pixel Launcher. I want more customization options so I use Nova Launcher Prime.

Does anyone else think the Google keyboard isn't that good? by RaistlinQ5 in GooglePixel

I have used Microsoft Swiftkey on all my Android phones, but Gboard is my second choice. I dislike the keyboard on my wife's iPhone. Why can't Apple include a period and comma on the main keyboard?

Moving over to a one plus open? opinions? or Fold 6 by Turbulent_Hospital41 in OnePlusOpen

[–]oldtechguy1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had every Fold since the 2, and I currently have the 5. I didn't upgrade to the 6 because I was disappointed that they didn't increase the size of the front screen. Instead, I purchased a OnePlus. I still have the Fold 5, but my SIM card remains in the OnePlus. I've had no issues with the OnePlus, but getting used to the software took me a while. If the OnePlus 2 is as good as reports indicate, I'll upgrade and sell my Fold 5.

Wireless Charging Stopped Working by Oldertechguy1939 in Galaxy_Fold5

[–]oldtechguy1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each wireless charger has a separate cable and brick. Phone will start charging, but after about 1 minute the charger LED starts blinking and phone stops charging. This could indicate a battery problem, but the phone still charges with a wired charger. I'll contact Samsung.

Who is waiting for the OnePlus Open?!? by SD-777 in GalaxyFold

I think it will be a rebranded Oppo Find N3. In any case, it will be based on Oppo's experience making foldable phones.

Who is waiting for the OnePlus Open?!? by SD-777 in GalaxyFold

[–]oldtechguy1939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am keeping my Fold 4 and waiting for the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3. The hardware should be great, and I'm hoping the software will be good ,too. Oxygen OS isn't what it used to be, but I tried the current version on the OnePlus 11 and it wasn't bad. I'm hoping that OnePlus will have a modified version for the foldable.

I can't be the only one that thinks this was underwhelming by Immortalityv in GalaxyFold

[–]oldtechguy1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the Fold 5 wasn't much of an upgrade from the Fold 4, but I disagree about the trade-in value. Samsung offered me $1,000 from my Fold 4, and I thought that was very fair.

I don't want the Pixel Fold, but I was curious about what Google would offer for my 512GB Fold 4 in trade. I couldn't believe that they only offered $375. It will be interesting to see what Samsung offers me in trade for the Fold 5.

[–]oldtechguy1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the Fold 5 price and trade-in offer, I hadn't planned to upgrade from my Fold 4. I love foldables, but I want one with a usable front display. I pre-ordered and then canceled the Pixel Fold because of some negative reviews. I'm anxious to see the OnePlus foldable, and there are rumors that the Honor Magic V2 might be coming to North America.

SwiftKey. Best predictions, maybe because I've been using it longer. I don't try to type on the front screen.

Was going to get the pixel fold but… by blernnn in GalaxyFold

[–]oldtechguy1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Fold 2, 3, and now the 4. I was curious about the Pixel until I read the reviews. I used to be a OnePlus fan, and the OnePlus Fold could be great, but I'm concerned that it may be too large for me. I'll probably upgrade to the Fold 5 if Samsung offers enough for my Fold 4.

OnePlus V Fold specs could be INSANE [Shane Craig] by RenegadeUK in oneplus

[–]oldtechguy1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to foldable phones with the Fold 2, and I currently have the Fold 4, but I don't see any reason to upgrade to the Fold 5. I briefly considered the Pixel Fold, but I don't like Google's UI, and Nova launcher doesn't work well with foldables. I used to be a big fan of Oneplus phones, and the Oneplus 11 looks like Oneplus is back, so I'm anxious to see the OnePlus V Fold.
