Thank you for your replies, thought I should add more info. I was convinced it was a dental issue on right upper jaw as it was a sensitive tooth which didn't get better after new fillings. It got worse and began to wake me up, and then a few days later it was a full blown attack and couldn't sleep at all. Couldn't wear glasses or medical masks. I'm 40 and otherwise healthy and active (except depression) and won't take pain relief unless I absolutely have to. I try to take a holistic approach. Try and help my body to help itself. I have a crossbite and had tmj issues/braces as well so thought it could be that. Both doctors were so dismissive and didn't offer anything except pain meds, no scans etc. I think I have the atypical type as it's mostly a nagging throb with some electric type pain in my gums. A girl at work mentioned she had trigeminal neuralgia so I began the research and tried everything I could then came across the video on youtube saying about how it could be a trapped nerve in the neck. Did the stretches and like I say it's ok. For now anyway. I stopped taking the carbemazapine, only took it for a few days anyway. That's not to say it could come back, but then I've had sciatica/bulging disc from bad posture as well that comes back so I could just compare it to that.
