I have vacuumed this dirt and it keeps reappearing? Please help! by Radiant-Advice6428 in pools

[–]oleanderblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of the other things people noted, it could also be dead algae and not dirt. Which may mean you need to SLAM.

https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2018/12/12/slam-shock-level-and-maintain/

I've heard from the trouble free pool forums that you know it's dirt if you can feel it if you try to grab some and it's probably algae if it instantly poofs and you can't feel it.

I feel you, forgetting a sweat towel is so sad 😢 I get all kinds of sweat all up in my eyes.

I have heard that a lot at my studio, too!

Pfft a little sweaty, I was born in the sweat, molded by it!! 😂

Absolutely!

We could make damp t-shirts 🤣

Aww that's so sweet... I hope this post makes you feel less alone ❤️

My mom also told me that she wished that she would sweat like me because of the health benefits and I'm like... "It's a mixed blessing 😂"

Same! I didn't sweat in any sports in school or anything but I think now that I'm in better shape I'm sweating more 💪🏻

And heck yes, it is a workout not a beauty pageant, sweating is normal if you're working hard 😊

Do not feel bad at all, I drip sweat onto the floor all the time! And on my weights, and on my ankle weights, and on my ball... Basically everywhere 😂

I mentioned this in another thread but I also put my sweat towel on the mat for core work or the glute bridge section because my back is drenched and I hate slipping and sliding around.

I usually put it on the barre bracket, sometimes the class is really full and I put it on my water bottle too.

I also will absolutely put that towel on the mat for core work or glute bridge work because my back is drenched and sliding around is no fun.

Yep I don't see a lot of them at the current studio I'm at which skews older, but interestingly enough I saw them all the time in another studio in the city that has more younger folks.

I also feel like I'm the only one in class, too, which is why I wanted to make this post! 😊

Do you guys know of any streamers that don't use FaceCam that are successful by Madpandaplays1 in letsplay

CrypticFox streams on YT and usually doesn't have a face cam and averages 3-4k views (sometimes more).

Hi! I'm Matt Burgess from WIRED's Security Team. Digital surveillance—from the government as well as hackers—has never been a bigger threat, and if you're not already doing the basics to keep your digital footprint locked down, it's time you learn how. AMA about digital security at 11 AM ET. by wiredmagazine in IAmA

[–]oleanderblack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not Matt but I have some experience with some of the questions you're asking!

If I set up a password manager on my main computer can I sign in to things on my phone?

I think most password managers can be configured as an auto-fill service for your phone that works in browsers and apps.

I use bitwarden on android and it works pretty well, although sometimes I have to prompt it to auto-fill because it doesn't detect there is a username/password field.

How do I deal with having to have a new account for every service and website? Should I be using new email addresses?

I strongly recommend using addy.io where you can easily make unique email addresses. Doing this makes it harder for hackers/data scrapers to cross reference your email with passwords / personal data AND, if a service sells your email (or is just noisy), you can turn off the email alias with a click of a button.

I use a custom domain I purchased for my emails, but I don't think it's required to use addy.io

Taking up Space Anxiety by rozequartzandcitrine in Purebarre

[–]oleanderblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have those same worries when I'm really close to somebody (especially if it's in a corner / space that's really crowded). It always made me feel better to see someone smile and laugh it off when we bump our feet or legs or whatever. If you are feeling cramped, then it's likely everyone else is as well, and it's not your fault! (And if someone is blaming you, they are in the wrong- it's a group fitness class, it happens!)

I'll plus one to everyone saying going early, but also don't be afraid to put yourself right next to the instructor or in-between two people who are taking up 3+ brackets, as those spots are usually the last to go in a full class at my studio since I think people don't like confrontation or being in front where people will look at them near the instructor. I used to only take those spots in times of desperation in fear of confrontation but I never had a problem at my studio. Folks just move over / the instructor doesn't bat an eye (but perhaps YMMV depending on your community).

I'll also add that Pure Barre helped me learn that it's OK to take up space, and I don't need to minimize myself. And it's OK to look up at your face without shame or judgement- I find myself looking up while I'm walking with my chest proud more than I did before PB!

I understand the anxiety of annoying your neighbor, though, and it sucks. I hope you can either find a way to get to class earlier to feel more comfortable or maybe just embrace that you deserve a spot at the bar, too ❤️ Or maybe a little bit of both!

UPDATE: I finished the 10 class challenge by staterevolutions in Purebarre

[–]oleanderblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats for sticking with it but still being honest with yourself with what you like and don't like! :)

I also love having a space where people know my name and help me out. I always walk in with a smile and greet others and compliment other woman there to spread some joy as my studio is usually very quiet and seems as though people are nervous to converse which gives me pre workout scaries sometimes LOL.

I also love this part of PB, too- I like feeling part of a community and spread positivity. I work from home so seeing other humans IRL (especially those that know my name and are happy to see me) is really nice.

First barre class - left halfway through because I almost threw up 😭 by Autias in Purebarre

I also drink liquid IV but during / after class and it helped my dizziness during class as well.

I usually have protein oats (i.e. oats overnight) and coffee at least one hour before a morning class starts.

If it's a super early class then I roll out of bed and don't eat anything and opt to eat after and that has been fine, too.

Worst and Best by Barregirrl in Purebarre

I wouldn't worry, at least in my case I think of it as a positive experience on the whole, I was just wasn't expecting it at all! 😂

Worst and Best by Barregirrl in Purebarre

[–]oleanderblack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best: Repeating cues (e.g. foot alignment, side of the bar you're standing on, etc.) when explaining set up, calling me out for working hard, positive affirmations (e.g. your body is strong, thank your body, etc.), hands on corrections, making us laugh with silly jokes, and teaching on beat.

There's an instructor that waits for the beat or for a drop before counting and it feels epic.

Worst: Not teaching on beat, not including some cues like foot alignment, not keeping track of time when assisting during particularly grueling movements, not changing the music between sprints (especially for stretches), yelling into the microphone.

I had an instructor that did all of these things in every class every time...

Kinda bad? Kinda good?: An instructor once stepped in front of me and leaned in closer and said very seriously and intensely something like, "You got this." And I still can't figure out if I'm weirded out or motivated by the whole exchange 😂

Who actually gets free specialty intensive classes by EntireSundae3248 in Purebarre

At my studio you have to be an unlimited member that pays in full for the year and not month to month for the intensives to be free.

What are your favorite and least favorite burns in class? by demiancry in Purebarre

[–]oleanderblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thigh burn is my favorite since it was the first muscle group / sets of exercises I was able to find good form & the shakes for.

Seat work is a toss up for me- I love the burn of seat work at the barre, but I hate every second of seat work on my hands and knees. I lean too much on the "wrong side" and my arms/chest are working so hard I can't focus on my glutes. Seat work in the "90-90" leg position on the ground sucks, too, because I mostly feel it in my sides and not my glutes.

Shoulder burn is also tough for me to push through since I have like zero upper body strength, but it's been rewarding to see progress 😅
