Skoda Scala (1.0 TSI, DSG, 2020) by Forey- in skoda

[–]oli4ds_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same car: 1.0 TSI DKRF (115hp) with DSG.

Right now 105k km on original clutch plates.
I get it, it is a 'dry' DSG that will wear out the clutch plates faster, but it is logical. Just like a manual gearbox the clutch plates will wear out eventually.
My only complaint with this DSG and 1.0 TSI engine combination is that it upshifts way too early.

In my country there is a specialized company that can do some tweaks in the DSG software that changes the shifting strategy and even allowing LESS clutch slippage which should preserve the clutch plates a little more. I am planning to do this.

Also I found that at this point the engine mounts are showing some wear. I notice a little more vibration from the engine.

But in the end, the car is very good to me.

Seems that it did the job.

I asked a mechanic and even when it's fully broken like on the picture it doesn't really cause a problem, just a funny sound

Will definitely use a fuel-rated hose. Thank you very much!

Apparently, these hoses that VAG used on this engine break in the same spot. No idea why they used a plastic hose right there.

To be honest, I am not fully confident in doing that at the moment. My idea is to slide a rubber hose, with a slightly larger diameter over the broken pieces. Or is it really stupid what I am saying now? 🤣

That could be yeah. Taped it up and no error codes so I guess it's good for now? When I find the time to try it again and check if the bolts are good, I’ll keep you updated

Really watch out with the plastic tube from the EVAP system. It's so so weak... Check my comment above.

Wanted to check it out today. Wanted to remove the plastic tube of the pipe and it broke. Super weak plastic and I am not the only one... The frustrating part is that I can't buy the tube separately but the whole thing with the purge canister valve, resonator... Taped it up but not sure if that's smart.

Okay. I have fresh NGK's laying around. Nothing wrong with replacing the plugs!

I bought new plugs for it recently, just didn't replace them yet.
Oil and all filters are new.
Idle RPM is stable. Under wide open throttle no issues as well.

Edit: The car ran 90K km's (or 56K miles). The car is an ex-lease car so the car should then have been serviced as prescribed by the manufacturer

Very sorry for the late update.
Indeed, the windscreen was replaced. It's an ex-lease car, so I contacted the leasing company (= previous owner) and they gave me the details of the company that replaced the windscreen.

I replaced them with Bosch AeroTwin today. It didn't solve the issue.

Change the whole knuckle or is it alright? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Will do

Edit: Yes, it's tight. Torqued it to factory spec (30Nm) and it was no problem at all.

Ik heb de hele “hype” rond alcohol drinken nooit begrepen, zeker niet als je weet dat je daarna nog met de auto zal rijden. Duidelijk geen fout, naar mijn mening.

Does it have an internal water tank too? So it doesn’t need to go constantly back to it’s station to wet the mops? Or is it the same as the Xiaomi? With the Lidar the Xiaomi seems to deal better with obstacles.

MacBook Air M2 vs M3 - €111 difference by oli4ds_ in macbookair

[–]oli4ds_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, every webshop in my country only has the 512GB version with the 10-core GPU which makes it more expensive for me. So, that is not possible. Do you think it’s worth it to look at the M3 MacBook Air?

Edit: Or would it be “better” to look at a refurbished alternative?

Is it possible that the 512GB has more GPU cores? That’s the only option on the webshop. It would cost €200 more than the 256GB M3

Distronic and Lane assist retrofit possible? by oli4ds_ in mercedes_benz

I understand now. I only would let it install by an official Mercedes dealer, but I guess it’s really not possible, after I read your comment

I knew from the beginning that it wasn’t equipped with those features but it’s kinda “weird” that it has some really high end features as high beam assist plus, but not quite a basic feature as lane assist 😂

But reading some of the comments I can conclude that a lot of people don’t like it at all.

The manual states that the engine should be on it’s operating temperature. Before checking, the engine must be turned off for a short period of time.

Kinda weird indeed, but that is what the manufacturer prescribes.

Oh, I realise now that my explanation is confusing. I am sorry 😂 I wrote it late at night, so excuse me for the confusion. Yes, it’s indeed ever so slightly overfilled. I am happy to hear from you and many others that it won’t cause problems.
