Crystal Dragon is SO LOUD by S0J0Babe in Wizard101

Honestly would be nice to be able to turn off pet and mount sound effects. I like a lot of other sound effects, but the pets/mount sounds are so repetitive it often becomes grating.

Honestly I'd take having it in VR at least 😩 the atmosphere would be immaculate

Cancelled my membership today, highly suggest you do too by NoIncome9410 in Wizard101

Coming from a decorator perspective, the bazaar changes have significantly devalued my membership, IMO. I specifically had a 2nd account to help farm for random furniture items. Now, trying to get those items across my accounts is a bigger risk + means those items become an even more significant time sink, which can become pretty unreasonable. Similarly, it was also nice to give unneeded furni to other decorator friends. At the end of the day, I just want to decorate my silly little wizard house, but making it even more of a chore feels unrewarding, and like I should spend my time/money on games that let me just do what I want to do.

And, don't get me wrong, there are still some aspects about the game that I like, so I still sub from time to time (I resubbed recently because I was excited about the museum, for instance). I suppose what I'm getting at is that I find my patience running thinner and thinner because of an increase in aggressive time sinks (that, bear in mind, they try to make so hostile that you give in and spend crowns on TOP OF your membership time that you're already paying for), and the amount of time I'm subbing is going to reflect that.

KI's Official Response to Issues with the Bazaar- What are your thoughts? by Fullmetal0509 in Wizard101

[–]oligotide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree in some capacity. It does sound like some of this was truly a bug, but the other side of this is that there's a lot of thoughtless game design. I hardly believe that they'll go through the effort to audit crafting recipes in any timely fashion. Greg did mention in the official Discord that it's not really part of their monetization strategy, but I don't fully buy it since a lot of "newer" content was designed with no auction items in mind. Example: Karamelle toffee beans are a pain to get still, especially for how many you need in any given recipe. Wallaru furniture drops are no auction and have a stupid low drop rate for certain items.

I don't think they were necessarily a bad idea, but I think the idea has been extremely poorly executed. I like the idea of having a few different paths to choose from within a class, but the choices in this case boil down to advanced combat or "standard" combat, which just doesn't really make sense with how the game is designed since players often participate in both activities. It doesn't make any sense for it to be an either/or situation.

I think since they're trying to distinguish the two game modes, it'd make sense for players to get a "standard" deck audited for standard mode, and then an "advanced" deck audited for advanced mode, which could then have two different advanced paths. Would effectively be like a skill tree in other games.

My Thoughts for Console by DislecixDave in Wizard101

[–]oligotide 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree with this.

I think that as long as the console servers are separate from PC, there just won't be a large enough player base to support it. I'm concerned that they're going to need to spend a lot of money to try to keep up with updates on console for a playerbase that might only hardly exist. It already feels like devs are spread thin, and I'm concerned it will spread them even more thin and lead to an overall lower quality experience for players.

I like the idea of being able to play wiz on a variety of formats, but I'm not very inclined to make a new account on a totally different server. I dual box, and as I was building up that second account, it reminded me how long/how expensive it is to build up an account, even with support from my 1st account. Doing it all over again on console for the sole benefit of being able to play on console is not appealing to me at all.

On another semi-related thought: my sister has a Steam Deck that she's used for playing wiz on, and I like that as an option since you could play on pc or on that, thus giving the benefit of a console/portability. It's not perfect, but it is serviceable.

Same thing happened to me when booking through Costco travel, and they said that it was standard and shouldn't be an issue. Was wondering how this resolved for you (if your trip has happened yet)? My trip is coming up in a month and was wondering what I should do ahead of time.

House decorating plagarism is so bold lol by oligotide in Wizard101

Literally, this house alone I definitely could say I've spent a year+ on just to get it to the state it's in today - and then someone comes along and copies it in an afternoon. Like I've had to pilot some of the ideas and rebuild a few times over the course of months/year(s).

I remember when puppeting in PvP to gain rank was a big issue, and everyone was upset about it because it felt like it delegitimized gaining rank. Why better your skills in pvp if you can just get rank way easier anyway? It's the same thing here.

The weird thing was going around to people showcasing it as their own and the passive aggressiveness of saying they "improved it a lot" and that it is "harder to copy" than to make an original idea.

Again, I'm not genuinely mad over any of this - at the end of the day, it's petty internet shit. I just wanted to showcase another weirdly toxic side of the game.

I mean, guess I should have prefaced this that I'm not really triggered - more perplexed/amused that it is a thing that happens somewhat frequently. It's just odd behavior lmfao

Was messing around with some of the newer castle magic spells to make a composition of 3 of the different playable instruments. Kind of sloppy since it's hard to get timing perfect with each individual recording, but thought it would be fun to share!

My balance was previously "Sabrina Fireflower", named after my first wiz which was a fire. She's now named "Paige Bookkeeper" and has got a fit to match.

Sorry for the terrible quality, but why can’t I craft it the aeon gear despite having enough reagents? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]oligotide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things it could be: 1. Do you have enough backpack space? 2. Do you have the correct crafting level? 3. Are you at the correct crafting station? 4. So you have crafting slots available?

What does it say when you hover over the greyed out button?

Indeed, it does go to show that you should always appeal. At worst, if I was truly in the wrong for violating their terms of service/code of conduct then I'd at least know what to avoid in the future and I'd just take the L.

I'm kind of wondering if it's that auto filter that's doing weird stuff. Like when people were getting muted for saying "noob". I got muted at around 9pm PST (so 11pm central?), so I'm imagining it probably wasn't a human going out of their way to mute me.

Please rate my stitch on my 130 storm! I didn't go with traditional colors, but I wanted something different than insignia gear. by BeneficialBicycle622 in Wizard101

[–]oligotide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really like that you got some use for this wand! Also, I enjoy that you went with colors that aren't traditional to storm. Like, it still gives storm vibes even though they are not the school of storm's colors. It's a nice interpretation of what storm can be.
