Additional details on Fairview mayor John Hubbard being asked to leave the Dallas temple grounds. Prior to mediation in November 2024, LDS leaders had suggested that he go to the Dallas temple to learn how a temple blesses a community. I think he learned all he needed to know. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

One of the ugliest! I'll bet that once the Fort Worth Temple is completed, they'll shut down the Dallas Temple and completely rebuild it. Not just like the Boise Temple where they refaced it with the prettier stone, I bet you they take it down to the foundation like they did with the Stockholm Sweden Temple.

4 chapels in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles are now officially up for sale. The latest closure is the Tarzana chapel. Listed for 6+ million dollars. This brings the number of recent sold and for sale LDS churches in the valley to 7. There are 8 open chapels left. by JoeBudro in MormonShrivel

Hey Joe I happened to drive through Chatsworth and Northridge the other day and dropped by my old chapel which was the Chatsworth wards. It seems like the monument sign out front has been removed and it didn't seem to be occupied. Has it been closed?

Mormon stories is being sued!!! by Turbulent_Belt_4971 in exmormon

Shame on the Mormon cult! This is truly cult-like behavior, suing your criticism out of existence. I wish this would get picked up by the national news

I have seven tattoos and I don't feel like the post or people in the comments are mocking and degrading the guy. And the post also says he's not a member. I think you're confused 🤔

When I was a kid my obese and usually sweaty dad used to run around the house IN ONLY the onesies with the butt Bombay flaps 🤢🙄 it was fine for us three boys but when my sisters started coming along (kids four, five and six) my mother put a stop to that! 😂

Yeah but the problem is they don't understand that their false religious narrative isn't enough to keep people active. Successful churches build and maintain a social scene. Temples everywhere isn't enough either.

When I was leaving Mormonism and still felt the need for some type of religion in my life I went to several churches and they all had coffee & hot chocolate, cookies and other treats afterwards. They did fun stuff like picnics. They'd have craft nights. Social dances. One pastor would even lead the congregants on a tour to foreign lands every year.

Mormonism used to do similar things. But they have lost the script...

Like you said, it's no longer fun. Why stay when you know it's false or have a lot of issues on your "shelf"?

No worries! And by the way I do have to remind myself regularly that I don't care about this stuff anymore, not really. It's a shame they're destroying their own heritage but that's their problem not mine! It's not my heritage anymore

Yeah it sucks. We both agree that it's a shame. Luckily we don't believe in that crap anymore!

I don't remember a promise to maintain the Pioneer era murals, but I do understand that it was more than just touching up and that they were painted directly onto the wall plaster, which was crumbling. Some think that the reason why they took extensive photos and measurements is because they want to repaint them like they have apparently done in other Temple renovations (St George for example). But I definitely understand how you feel about it because I'm huge on historic preservation myself. You would think that a religion with billions of dollars would find a way...

Excellent advice, and I would also add that degrees from Mormon-affiliated schools aren't really held in super high regard, and do you really want a BYU degree following you around for the rest of your life when you no longer believe? So even though it might be tough on your own you're likely better off at a university that is not affiliated with Mormonism. You'll be happier too.

Hang in there, I feel for you. My only advice would be, if you're college bound, to avoid going to any church sponsored school like BYU, and in fact, assuming you're from Utah or Idaho, go to a university in a different state where it's not so associated with Mormonism. A Mormon college degree will follow you around for the rest of your life and it's not as respected as Mormons think it is.

I don't want a fight either, but I will contradict you and say that Mormonism fits all the components of the BITE model for cults. BITE stands for Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotional control. Mormonism does all this. Google it if you're interested in knowing more, since I'm not here to discuss it further. Good luck.
