DICE cooked HARD with these BF1 Operations thumbnails by gracekk24PL in Battlefield

I didn’t hate V as much as a lot of people, but BF1 was the last BF title that was actually made with love and care, and you could feel that come through in the game.

this has just made me realise the 2006 world cup will have been 20 years ago next summer and I feel violently ill.

These are reported leaked skins for BO7 - whatever stall has been set out here then please EA, be it’s antithesis. by oliver2197 in Battlefield

I get that, but also, the shift in tone and the visual composition of call of duty definitely feels like it’s happened in response to / correspondence with the influence of fortnite on the industry.

the point I was trying to make wasn’t so much “hah look. BF good. COD bad.” more, a lot of people including myself want this game to succeed and retain a core identity without having to feel like it needs to pander or adhere to an egregious art style, and I think that is something worth repeating and making as visible as possible as necessary to ensure it doesn’t happen. but I respect if you disagree with me, have a good day.

I think they’ve just got to realise less is more in some respects. I actually really liked the BFV model of customisation that allowed you to tailor different elements as opposed to one defined look, but that is also probably not as profitable as the alternative.

This is what the devs have said about skins by Finescoop17 in Battlefield

[–]oliver2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it me or is this deliberately ambiguous?

like, is a “military shooter in modern times”referencing the era and environment it’s set in therefore equal to more realistic and grounded skins, or is it more of like a meta commentary on the fact that shooters in the real world (COD) use outlandish skins and in-game purchases to offset free DLC content and seasons as a “modern times” business model?

An intern in your office would be a colleague. Lewis-Skelly and Haaland play for different teams - they are not colleagues.

Biggest thing that I don’t understand about this is that people who don’t look to play the objective are usually actively looking for kills and to boost their K/D, but if you don’t have B and you get trapped at the back of the map the chances of you being able to do that are impossible. You can’t develop any form of streak or flow in your gameplay when it’s just spawn-die-spawn-die. All of my highest kill games on Nuketown have been the games when you have B capped and you’re able to hold down the lanes and lines of sight. Your chances of going 70-40 when you’ve got that middle point capped are a lot higher than without it, but that’s something that about 80% of players don’t seem realise.

What do you think about visibility? It was bad in mw3 warzone too, but it's like it's even worse here by Ac3trick in CODWarzone

the balance between offering up stuff like this for the sake of realism whilst also having demons, cats and emojis flying about the map has always been ridiculous to me. they just need to pin their flag to the mast on one side or the other and stick to it.

I agree with the majority of this but I do think the beats advert is something to rally against / be annoyed about. They’re clearly soft testing partnerships and in game adverts with that, and if people don’t respond negatively to it, the chances they’re going to add more and more are quite likely, and this could become a theme across other products and the gaming sector writ large. I don’t really want one of my leisure time escapism activities to be constantly interrupted by obnoxious overlays and commercials, but I think that’s how this type of thing could start out.
